I pulled my car over across the road from the Blüdhaven Police Department and sighed as I looked out of the window at the grey sky above. There was something about this city at seemed to suck the colour out of everything in it, the buildings were tall as if only built to block out the light, even the people seemed to be dressed in dark colours as they made their way through the streets not even acknowledging anyone or anything around them as they hurried about.
The city that was built only to live in the shadow of Gotham was really living up to its name.
My phone began to vibrate pulling me from my thoughts, I rummaged around in my oversized bag pulling out what seemed like hundreds of bits of paper, most of them had interview questions on that I'd been sent with by my best friend, Elizabeth. It was her fault I was here in the first place she was too "sick" to come and do the interview herself.
I finally managed to find my phone "Yes, hello" I answered in an annoyed tone as I tried to stuff all the bits of paper back into my bag, it's fair to say I'm not the most organised of people, "well I hope that's not the tone you're going to be using when you're asking my questions Lorelei or you're going to make a terrible impression of the newspaper" said Elizabeth in a cheery tone. I let out a small laugh "well maybe if you're so worried you should come here and ask them your-" before I could even finish my sentence I was almost deafened by the surge of fake coughs and sneezes from the other end of the phone "I told you Lorelei I'm too sick to do it" Elizabeth said in her "best" sick voice "Alright Beth I'll let you off this once but you owe me" I looked over at the large clock on the side of the B.P.D building "look I've gotta go now or I'm going to be late, I'll text you as soon as I'm done and let you know how it went" with that I put the phone down and stuffed it to the bottom of my bag again.
I stepped out of the car only to be met by a gust of cold wind blowing my long blonde hair into my face, I pulled my jacket tight around myself and made my way across the road to the tall almost depressing looking building in front of me. I pushed open one of the large mental doors and made my way to the front desk.
Police officers rushed around handing each other files and shouting to one another from different offices and different floors of the building "pull the files up on the six missing men" I heard a short brown haired man shout from the second floor down to a group of officers that were huddled around one of the computers that I was walking past "yes sir" I heard them reply.
They must have a lead on the case I thought to myself I had been following the case closely it was a real mystery. Every month or so a man would go missing from his home, there had been 6 so far, they seemed to be random, no connection between them had been found yet and no one knew who would be the next target.
It was one of the reasons I was here, to interview the new Chief of Police who had been brought in from Gotham to reassure the citizens of Blüdhaven that the police were "taking control" of the situation.
"Welcome to Blüdhaven Police Department, how can we help you today" the women at the desk greeted me in an almost robotic voice and forced smile, she had obviously been saying that a lot recently since the crime in bludhaven had been increasing "Hi I'm here to do an interview with -" oh no! I'd completely forgotten his name. The women at the front desk just starred at me raising an eyebrow, this was awful how was I going to interview someone when I couldn't even remember their name, I could feel the panic starting to set in, I hated doing interviews it was almost as bad as public speaking I was going to kill Elizabeth for this! "with?" I heard the women ask "with .. with the chief of police" I finally managed to force out, I could feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment "ah yes I remember seeing that somewhere on here" she said as she furiously typed on the keyboard of her computer "There you're all signed in Miss Lee, his office is on the top floor, you can take the elevator to the left, he's currently still in a meeting which is over running but there are seats up there for you to sit and wait" I nodded and made my way over to the elevator.

This was going to be hell.
