I stood at the edge of the bustling campus, my gaze fixed on the figure that seemed to stand out even among the sea of students. Rainbow Dash. The name itself left a sour taste in my mouth, a constant reminder of the rivalry that had brewed between us since day one. As I watched her effortlessly weave through the crowd, a sense of determination surged within me. Today was going to be different. Today, I would prove once and for all that I was superior.
With a firm grip on my backpack, I pushed through the throng of students, my eyes never leaving Rainbow's figure. She seemed oblivious to my presence, her attention focused solely on the sky above. Typical Rainbow, always dreaming of flying.
I quickened my pace, determined to catch up to her. As I drew closer, I could hear the whispers of the students around me. They spoke of her in awe, praising her speed and agility on the track field. But I knew better. I knew the truth behind her facade.
Finally, I reached her side, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, well, if it isn't Rainbow Dash. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be practising your failed attempts at breaking the speed record?"
Rainbow turned to face me, her eyes flashing with annoyance. "Applejack," she sneered, "what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be off tending to your precious apple trees?"
I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain my composure. "Unlike you, Rainbow, I have other interests besides flying aimlessly through the sky."
She laughed, a sound that grated on my nerves. "Is that so? Well, I'd love to see you try and beat me on the track field. Unless, of course, you're too scared to face a little competition."
Her words ignited a fire within me, a burning desire to prove her wrong. "You're on, Rainbow. Consider it a challenge."
And with that, the stage was set. The entire campus buzzed with anticipation as the news of our impending showdown spread like wildfire. Students placed their bets, confident in their chosen champion. But for me, it was about more than just winning. It was about proving to Rainbow, and to myself, that I was capable of anything she could do.
Rainbow Dash and I have always been rivals, ever since we were little. I remember my first day in preschool. I had just moved from Appleloosa , and I was very different from everyone else, since I didn't have colourful hair. I was nervous, but I still remember the exact moment that I met her. I was walking into the school, when I tripped over my own foot and fell face flat onto the floor. I didn't see the wet floor sign either, so I slipped. I was really clumsy when I was small. When I got up, there was a girl in front of me. I thought that she was going to help me, but instead, she laughed and flashed a cocky grin at me.
"Seems like you're new here. I'm Rainbow Dash, the most awesomest, toughest and coolest student here. You have already made a horrible entrance, get ready if you do so again" She said and left, staring at me.
Ever since that day we've always clashed. That was when I was only eight years old, and now I'm nearly seventeen. After we established our new competition, we went back to class. Here she came, as cocky as ever. Rainbow Dash, that flashy, ever-competitive show-off, strutted into the room with an air of confidence that bordered on arrogance. Standing at a solid five foot six, she wasn't the tallest, but her presence made her seem larger than life. Her vibrant, multi-colored hair was her most striking feature, cascading down her back in a wild riot of colours that seemed to shimmer with every movement. Each hue—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple—was as bold and bright as the day she'd first dyed it. It's like she needed everyone to know just how special she thought she was, even before she opened her mouth.
Her eyes, a piercing shade of magenta, always seemed to be alight with mischief and a dash of challenge. They never missed a thing and were often narrowed slightly, like she was constantly on the lookout for the next contest, the next way to prove she was better. Those eyes, sharp and unyielding, could make anyone feel like they were being judged, weighed, and measured. Including me.
