Kanan has had quite an eventful week, it started out being captured and tortured and defeating the grand inquisitor, then a few rotations later he figured he'd been recovered enough, only to get injured on a mission. He felt pathetic, it was an easy mistake, something he figured Ezra would do, but not him. He was covered in bandages, his left arm and shoulder wrapped up and in a sling. Hera confined him to his bed, not the way he would've originally have wanted to have Hera confine him to bed, but she insisted that he needed rest to help his injuries heal. It was thankfully nothing serious and should only take a few rotations, but it was still annoying enough to Kanan to feel so pathetic and helpless and useless. He was about to feel worse....
"Hey Kanan!" Ezra's voice was cheerful as he opened the door to Kanan's room.
"What is it Ezra." Kanan sighed, obviously not wanting to be bothered, especially by a loud annoying teenager.
Ezra walked in, holding a tray with food and a drink, "Hera wanted me to bring you lunch."
"Great. You brought it. Thanks. Now get out..." Kanan folded his arms and turned away.
"Awww come on, don't be like that." Ezra was too oblivious to read the room, Kanan clearly wanted to be alone and sulk, but he walked in and set the tray down and pulled up a chair. "I figured you were probably bored, so I decided I could keep you company and help you pass the time while you recover."
"I don't need your help Ezra, I'm fine. Thank you." Kanan tried to wave him off.
"I'll help you feel better! I'll help you get some rest by telling you some of my favorite stories my parents used to tell me when I was little and couldn't sleep."
"I don't need help Ezra." Kanan rolled his eyes. "Especially not some baby bedtime story."
"But here, listen to this then, I wrote this one myself!"
"Ugh..." Kanan sighed, this should be good. Ezra was clearly not listening to him, only to his own voice talk.
"Ok." Ezra held up his hands in suspense. "Once upon a time there was a young loth wolf, his family was in trouble, placed under a curse by the ancient space witch."
"Really?" Kanan lifted an eyebrow.
"Come on, it's get better! Just wait.... So the young loth wolf has to go out on a journey to find the golden amulet, it's ancient powers could release the curse and save his pack."
"How would a wolf know what a golden amulet is?"
"Shhh!" Ezra held a finger up to his lip. "No plot holes! Now where was I? Oh yeah..... The wolf had to go on a quest far away, he felt guilty leaving his family and friends but he knew it was the only way to save them. When he was lost in the middle of nowhere he was suddenly ambushed, by a gang of shadow foxes! Ooooohhhhhhh!"
"Shadow foxes?"
"They were being controlled by the space witch!" Ezra waved his arms to add excitement and action, Kanan was annoyed but couldn't help but chuckle to himself in mild amusement.
"Space witch. How original."
"She made sure to set up a series of deadly traps to stop the wolf on his quest."
"Oh wow, how thrilling."
"I know right?" Ezra completely missed Kanan's sarcasm.
"Ezra, don't quit your day job. You might be a creative kid, but story writing is not your strong suit."
"Oh please. Like YOU could do any better? Now stop interrupting!"
"Ezra, I really appreciate the sentiment and effort but..."
