hi so um. Here's a origin story fic I made for my
Kwazini fankid oc, Kai.

I mentioned her in the epilogue of my long fic, TWTLTS (the waves that lap the shore), but I decided to write a fic on Kai's origin story so here it it.

Also don't worry, you don't have to have context from TWTLTS to read this. It can be read on its own :)

Anyway for ppl who are reading this on its own and haven't read TWTLTS, here's Kwaz and Paani's pronouns in this fic. (Sorry I just wanted to mention this so there won't be any confusion lol)

Kwazii - he/they/it

Paani went sailing on his paddle board in the water, it was twilight.

The sun was on the horizon.

He was trying to not get wet. He made sure to stay in calmer part of the ocean.

Paani, however, heard a strange noise in the distance.

He went to investigate.

Paani saw a basket. He got closer.

Huh? A kitten? He questioned "Who left you here? You poor thing! You must be cold!" Paani fretted, the kitten shivered.

"Well. How about I take you back to the reef base for now." Paani said, scooping up the kitten and holding it close.

Paani brought to kitten inside "Hi Paani!" Selva said as she sipped some green tea, then noticing the kitten in Paani's arms.

"Who's that?" she asked "Oh uh- I went on swim on my paddle board and found this kitten in a basket." Paani answered.

"Oh! Welcome to parenthood then!" Selva replied.

Paani thanked her.

How am I supposed to explain to Kwazii that I found a random kitten?

"Hey Kwazii. I found this random kitten in a basket when I went out on my paddle board . What should we do with it?" Paani asked.

"Keep it? I mean it's not everyday we find some random ass kid in a basket." Kwazii replied.

"Ahem. Please no cursing around the child. Kwazii." Paani scolded, crossing their arms.

Kwazii nodded.

Damn Dashi must be rubbing off on them. Kwazii thought.

Kwazii held the kitten in his arms "so I guess we're your parents now?" Kwazii questioned, "So um. I'm your dad and that's your renny?" Kwazii says as he glanced at Paani, who nodded in approval.

"I'm gonna show her to Cap't now." Kwazii decided, walking to the kitchen.

"Ahoy cap... um. Paani found some random ass kid when they went out on their paddle board." Kwazii said as he looked at Captain Barnacles. "Oh that's nice!" Captain Barnacles said as he looked at the kitten. "Welcome to parenthood Kwazii!" He adds.

"Oh uh? Thanks cap't." Kwazii responded.

"Let's get you to uncle Peso." Kwazii added, glancing at the kitten, who let out a mew.

Kwazii walked into the sick bay, "Ahoy Peso, um. Me and Paani are parents now I guess. Paani found this random ass kid and we decided to take her in." Kwazii explained, "I decided to bring her to you to make sure she was healthy." He added.
