Author's POV:
After two days:
Arya was busy having dinner with her family when her father informed everyone about the arrival of his son's business guest, also his business friend. He announced that they would arrive at dinner time, and Arya was shocked because she would have to face him again.
Holy shit... not again.
Arya's POV:
I was silently having my dinner, contemplating how to start a conversation with Papa as he had been absent for the past few days, seemingly ignoring me.
This really sucks.
Instead of eating my dinner, I was playing with my spoon and food when I heard Papa saying,
" one of my business guests is coming over for dinner tomorrow" in his usual tone. I prayed it wouldn't be him,Papa often has many business guests, so it couldn't possibly be him, right? But deep down, I was convinced that he was coming.
And my doubts were confirmed, almost as if it were intentionally orchestrated by fate. Bhai exclaimed
"Yeah, Maa, actually Vidyut is coming with his family for some business discussion and dinner." He explained everything about their arrival time, while I simply nodded. Maa,curious, exclaimed
"I'll prepare his favorite dishes,my son is coming after so many days." She said it with a mixture of excitement and anticipation, while Bhai chuckled softly. Meanwhile, I gazed at them, feeling confused. I wanted to stay quiet, but I couldn't. I needed to make some sort of excuse to avoid being present at home for dinner. Yeah, that's a good idea.
I cleared my throat, seeking everyone's attention, and stated
"I can't be here for dinner as I have a night shift tomorrow, and it's important. So yeah, I can't be here." I exclaimed, trying to sound convincing.
Since when did you become an expert in lying, Arya? I thought
Maa said. "But beta, you haven't met them yet, so please try to come over for dinner," she said, sounding a little sad, but she understood my work.
"No, Arya, I don't want any excuses. I want you for dinner, and that's final. No more discussion. You know it's about reputation. Whenever they come here, they ask about you. You will be here, that's final," he said in his cold tone, giving me goosebumps.
Can't he say it in a sweeter tone rather than yelling? Still, I thought to myself, how could I forget? I'm his sweet daughter in front of other people.
"But it's important. I have work tomorrow, and it won't be possible for me to be present," I said slowly, my breath hitching as I looked at Papa, who was filled with the same rage he had three years ago.
