Gon works hard on this project because right now it means everything to Killua, making it mean everything to Gon as well.
He's going to the store to make sure they have the right supplies, he's hands on during the whole process, and he's asking Killua questions with genuine interest because he wants a good grade.
Because he wants to put a smile on Killua's face. A genuine one.
His father has even taken notice to his sudden interest in "school" and the work that he's been doing out of school.
Ging questions him every morning this past week: "Gonna go study with that rich kid again?" and "what's the sudden care for school, huh?"
Gon tries not to let it bother him.
That his father doesn't expect much from, he believes Gon is going to fail. It's never bothered him before, but now, this project turned into proving his father wrong too.
Killua notices as well, but his reaction isn't scolding at all. He's proud and it warms Gon's chest in this gross way.
Killua praises his work and all his efforts. He smiles that smile, the one that causes the corner of his eyes to crinkle a little and makes his cheeks puffy.
It's truly a sight to Gon.
He feels a sense of guilt in the back of his mind every time he sees it.
Because it took so long for him to be worthy enough to see it. Because he couldn't pull his head out of his ass to see the pain he caused.
Gon tries everyday to make him smile and laugh, even if the laugh is nearly silent and barely there.
He's had plenty of time to reflect while watching Killua heal in the hospital room.
His walls are down for Killua, only him.
He's trying his best.
The project gets a good grade, not what Killua's parents expected but still good nonetheless.
Mr.Wing praises their teamwork and gives Gon a clap on the back for his participation. Killua does his best to hold in the laugh as he watches Gon's face heat up with embarrassment, rolling his eyes and shrugging Mr.Wing off of him.
They walk out of the classroom in silence. Gon walking on the side with Killua's sling.
A pleased smile present on both of their faces.
They probably look like doofuses to other students occupying the hall space.
"Do you wanna get out of here? Celebrate our good grade?" Killua asks, looking up at Gon with those eyes.
Gon looks away before he can get to entranced with the swirling blues.
"I thought you were done skipping."
"You've persuaded me." He says with a simple shrug. "And, we've done nothing but work on that project all week."
"We watched movies at my house that one day." Gon replies quickly, not forgetting how disappointed he was when Killua had to leave.
Killua only leans into Gon's face, batting his pale lashes and purse his lips.
Gon uncooly replies with a: "Where did you want to go?" and Killua smiles brilliantly as he pulls away.
"Let's go to my place, no one's home."
Someone was home, multiple someone's. Did Killua forget he had butlers or something?
Gon definitely forgot.
"Welcome back, Master Killua." his butler bowed down as he greeted the "Master".
"Hi Gotoh, can we keep this between us please." he gave"Gotoh" his puppy dog eyes that must've worked a thousand times but never lost the same affect.
"Tell them about what?" He replied with a small smile.
Killua smiled up at him brightly before pulling Gon deeper into the large house —house is a major understatement, the Zoldyck Estate is fucking huge. Gon can't wrap his mind around it— by his hand.
Gon doesn't have time to process much, taking in every room of the estate that they pass through before they reach Killua's bedroom.
Gon collapses onto his bed with a sigh.
"You know, I didn't ever think I'd skip again; you're such a bad influence Killua." He winks up at Killua from where he was lying.
Killua let out a loud laugh, dropping down next to Gon but with caution for his arm.
His head resting next to his.
"Hey," Gon speaks quietly, leaning up on his elbow to look down at the younger as he speaks. "When do you get your cast off?"
"Next week, hopefully." Killua mumbles with closed eyes.
Gon studies his face, relaxed and beautiful. He never paid attention to his face before, not like he's doing now. It was no secret that Killua was pretty, even though Gon only looked closely at his body.
The light from the afternoon sun shone through his window, making Killua look ethereal.
"Killua, you're really pretty." Gon whispered. He watched the others eyes slowly open, he watched the blush take over his face, and he watched his eyes light up.
"Thank you, Gon." He breathed out.
"Thank you, Killua." Gon leaned down with closed eyes, pressing their foreheads together, and letting his nose rub against Killua's.
FEELS. This chapter was so much fun to write. I was gonna make it longer but I think ima save my idea for the next chapter.
I hope the pacing of this is okay, even though i've began to completely ignore the earlier chapters.
