Why did he leave me on read? I need to keep myself busy!
Biting her lips, Yeojin stared at her phone screen, trying to make herself look busy to avoid the stares she's receiving from the group of teens near her table.
She scrunched her nose, glancing to the bucket of chicken in front of her then back to her phone. She took one of the drumsticks and dipped it into the sauce before taking a bite of it.
She munched the meat timidly while having an eye to eye contact with her phone. She never dared to tear her gaze from the screen unless she'd glance to the bucket on her table.
In her highschool days, Yeojin didn't understand why young adult always have a beef with high schoolers. But now as she is in college, she knew exactly why.
They tend to make you uncomfortable just with their eyes alone. Just with their presence alone. Just like what the group of teens are doing to her.
Sighs.
I still can't believe he left me on read.
If there is an emoji that best describe her state right now, it would be the yellow one that is smiling with a stray tear on its left eye.
As petty as it sounds, she's upset that the man just left her on read. And that was the first time.
His one word or two words reply is so much better than leaving me on read.... He was awake...
Yeojin blinked as she stopped munching her food when the chair next to her suddenly moved. She blinked her eyes, mouth full of meat as she craned her neck to look who dared to disturb her 'alone' time.
Her eyes widened as she watches Heeseung sat next to her. He is wearing a black hoodie with a grey sweatpants. His outfit is simple, nothing special but the way he carries them is what it makes special and... different.
She swallowed the food in her mouth and whispered his name. "Heeseung?"
The corner of the man's lips slightly tugged upward as he gave her a light nod. Yeojin's eyes darted to the little paperbag Heeseung was carrying when he put it on the table in front of him.
He is sitting beside Yeojin. His lower body is facing three o'clock with his upper totally facing her.
"What are you doing here? "
"I saw your texts, you said you were alone. " He answered, his voice was hoarse.
Yeojin put the drumstick on the paper plate while scrunching her nose. "I'm aware, you literally left me on read. "
Heeseung snorted as he chuckled. "My phone died, I didn't mean to. "
Oh....
"How did you know I'm here? "
He raised his brow, smiling. "Yeojin, I'll tell you again, I saw your messages. "
Heat immediately rushed to her cheeks. She felt so stupid and embarrassed from his response.
Right!
"I-i mean, how did you know I'm referring to this KFC? I could be talking about the kfc in Gangnam- why are you laughing? "
Heeseung shakes his head. "You're cute, Yeojin. "
"Heh! Shut up! "
He chuckled when the shade of pink in her cheeks becomes more prominent as it is totally visible to his line of sight.
He hummed, lifting his right hand to rest it on the backrest of her chair. He started playing with some of the strands of her hair. "You said it's twenty minutes from your unit, this is the only KFC that matches the distance you gave. "
He tucked some strands behind her ear as she started eating once again. "Also, I was nearby buying something when you messaged me. "
His finger accidentally touched her cheeks causing Yeojin to stop. Her brows immediately furrowed as she faces him. Her available hand immediately held Heeseung's as her fingers wrapped around his digit.
Her eyes widened. "Heeseung, you're hot! "
"I know but thanks. "
Yeojin almost roll her eyes from his reply. "I am not joking, Heeseung. You have fever! "
He hummed. "Hmm not really, it's just a mild fever baby. "
"Mild or not, you shouldn't be outside! What did you even buy at this hour? " Perhaps she is too worried for his well being that she's getting frustrated.
Mild or not, that is still a fever. He is so burning hot after all!
"I bought medicine. "
Yeojin's eyes immediately darted to the little yellow paper bag that he was carrying with him earlier. Her eyes soften as she sighs.
She stood up. "Wait me here, I'll just ask them to pack this then I'll take care of you. "
Heeseung just nodded and Yeojin wasted no time. She immediately went to the counter with the tray where the bucket she ordered earlier is on.
Meanwhile, the man is smiling while watching her at the counter. Maybe having this mild fever isn't that bad.
