Very late. Don't kill me.

Sarada has been distant since Boruto's dinner party. It put a lot of troubling thoughts in her head. She's lost a couple of hours of sleep over it.
It put her in a deflated mood. She wasn't doing well.
She tried not to make it too obvious to Boruto. She believes she's doing a good job at it.
Tonight, she and Boruto will have their movie date just like they agreed. But before that, her mother wanted to have dinner with her.
It was her birthday after all.
She kept her birthday from Boruto. She knew he would want to do something big for her, but she didn't want the attention.
That and because she never found her birthday to be a big deal. It stemmed from her past birthdays. Her mother was always working and opted to do a dinner just between them. She would always give her a small gift. Next, they would facetime Sasuke and they would talk for a while before going to bed.
But since his death, the void in her heart, would consume her. Because after dinner, there would be no phone call with her father.
It wasn't until his death that she realized how much she had taken that for granted. Sure, she pouted and cried when her father couldn't be there on her special birthday. But at the very least, he always brought gifts from his deployments as an apology for all the things he's missed.
Oh, how she wishes she could turn back time and tell her younger self to stop making such a deal out of it. She would tell herself to be grateful she got to talk to papa.
Because one day those phone calls would stop.

Her mom decided to go out into the city for dinner this year. Apparently, one of her workers told her about this luxurious restaurant and how she couldn't die without trying it.
She pulled into the parking lot, and she took in the familiar scenery. She looked up to read the name
Amore's
The same restaurant that Boruto took her to when she first met him. She giggled to herself.
Walking to the table, she couldn't stop smiling. This was the restaurant that they had their first date after all.
"What's got you all giddy?" Her mother asked. She unfolded the napkin on her lap.
"Nothing. Just remembering a joke my coworker said earlier today."
Sakura raised her brow, "Are you lying missy?" She pointed her butter knife at her.
"I would never" She smiled.
Their dinner went well. A lot of giggles and smiles. It made Sarada realize just how much she truly missed her mother.
She wished they could have more nights like this. She enjoyed her mother's company and presence like no other. She was her best friend.
It was hard for her to part with her mom at the end of the night. She gave her an excuse involving her coworkers inviting her out for some drinks. Sakura was a little reluctant to let her go, but she was grown and trusted her to act responsibly.
They parted their ways. Sarada got a lyft to the movie theater and waited at the front for Boruto.
They made a promise to have a small movie marathon. A chick flick of Sarada's choice, and an action one of Boruto's.
