Sumire's POV:
This day started like any other. I got out of bed, opened the curtains and opened the window in my room. After a whole night, the breeze is very pleasant, especially in the morning when the sun is not shining so strongly. Living in the wild west is not as easy as it may seem. I rent a room in one of the casinos because they are relatively cheap and in a good location. Unlike many locals and ranch owners, I don't have to bother with commuting to town. I made my bed and chose one of my favorite outfits from the closet. It's rather something traditional - a regular long ankle-length skirt, boots and a white shirt with a ruffle. I always add a large belt with a gold buckle, because it goes well with the purple color of my hair and skirt. Today I wanted to look especially good. Why? Well... There is this boy, Boruto Uzumaki. His father is the sheriff of Konoha, and has a huge ranch on the outskirts of the city. Generally speaking, from what I know, he made his entire fortune on his own, which can undoubtedly be described as enormous. Everyone admires and respects Sheriff Naruto Uzumaki. I really like Boruto because he helped me many times with lugging medicine boxes and much more. I owe him a lot - but most of all I liked him very much. Unfortunately, I clearly see that he and my friend Sarada are attracted to each other, so my chances are slim. It doesn't change the fact that I can dress up to meet them.
- "I wonder what it will be like at this competition... I really don't know why I'm going there since I don't like watching horse riding." - I thought, as I braided my hair into two braids, as I always do.
The only thing left for me to be ready to go out was a head scarf. They protect well from the sun, which is quite an important issue because we live in Arizona. There's a lot of heat here, and people don't realize its consequences.
After tying the head scarf and moving the braids off my back, I was ready. I closed the door and locked it. Walking down the thick wooden stairs, my shoes make a distinctive sound - which attracts a certain... person I don't particularly like.
- Hey, miss Sumire! Good morning!
- Good morning, Mr. Antonio.
This middle-aged man is renting me a room. His name is Antonio, and he has a son my age - Lucas - who I think has expressed interest in me. His father always praises him in front of me, trying to prove to me that he is a good person to marry. Given my financial situation, almost any man would be a good candidate for a husband, because unlike many, I did not inherit even half of my parents' fortune. I was an orphan and lived with my distant relatives until I could find a job and a place to live on my own. It's sad, but I've never worried about it this much. Anyway, I had no intention of warming up to Lucas.
- How are you? 'Going to today's competition? - he asked, looking at me from up to down.
- I'm fine, and yes - I'm going there today. Can I ask, why you're interested in this? - I replied gently, and softly.
- Ohh, that's new! I tought a lady like you wouldn't want to watch such performances. But it's okay, you know what?
- Yes? - I asked, confused.
- My son Lucas is participating too! I'm proud of the progress he's made in shooting and avoiding barrels. He spent a good few months on this!
- Really? Well... I wish him good luck. I need to go now, I'll return for my key probably in the afternoon. Bye!
- Bye, miss Sumire!
