"Bullshit!" Minna shouted."Damn you!" Cat grumbled. She picked up the stack.
Minna high-fived Jeremy and put down her cards. "Three queens."
"Bullshit," Laila tried.
Minna flipped her cards. Laila swore at her and picked up the cards. Jeremy put down his.
"One king."
Cat. "Two aces."
Laila, again. "One two."
Back to Minna: "Three threes."
"One four."
"Peanut butter," Minna said proudly. The other three cursed at her as Cat took her turn.
"Three fives."
"One six." Laila.
"Two sevens." Minna.
Jeremy, "One eight."
So on and so forth until Minna put down her last two cards—"Two fours."
"One five."
"Peanut butter."
"Fuck you!" Laila cried dramatically. "How? You won last time!"
Minna cackled. "I'm just good at Bullshit, clearly."
"And Uno, Jenga, four-in-a-row, Spoons, Tic-tac-to, Go Fish, Bananagrams, and Solitaire," Cat listed. "How? I figured you wouldn't have played a lot of games like this with the Ravens..."
Minna grinned but didn't say anything else.
Cat grumbled as she put down her card. "One six."
Minna wandered into the kitchen absently, looking at her phone with increasing anxiety.
There was a swear, a cheer, and Jeremy walked up next to her.
"What are you going to do?" he whispered.
Minna offered a shrug and a mug of coffee. "If he calls me again, I will call Ichirou."
Jeremy nodded. "Okay."
The two stood there, drinking their coffee as Laila and Cat played an intense end round of BS.
Laila's voice let out a stream of swears and Cat laughed at her plight.
"Don't laugh at me!"
"I'm sorry, babe, I love you."
"You better!"
Minna and Jeremy exchanged a humorous look and reentered the living room.
"I take it Cat won?" Jeremy asked.
Laila huffed and sat back in her chair. "Yes."
Minna smiled softly. "Better luck next time."
Laila stuck her finger at her. "I'll believe it when I see it," she grumbled.
The four shared a laugh.
"Sore loser," Jeremy teased.
Laila scowled. Cat laughed again and pulled her from the chair to the floor. Minna sat next to the girls with a soft smile and bumped Laila's shoulder.
"Cheer up!" Minna urged. "Let's watch a movie."
"Big Hero 6," Cat and Jeremy voted in unison.
Minna laughed again. "You always vote for Big Hero 6."
"That's cause it's great," Jeremy defended. "And you like it too."
"Never said I didn't."
Laila smiled. "Of course not." She ruffled Minna's hair gently. "C'mon, Jeremy, join us on the floor."
The captain plopped down. "Minna, grab the remote?"
She obliged and flicked on the tv.
This was fun, she decided, as the opening credits played.
