Chapter VII: Shadow in the Dark

The pair couldn't be happier. For the past two weeks they had this glow around them. The cheerfulness and joy was contagious and whoever didn't know the reason was curious, but wouldn't get any direct answer.

After their engagement both men would never take their rings off. It was some really big hint at their relationship, but why should they hide it? They didn't want to anymore.
New pictures and articles with speculations about their relationship popped up almost every day. They had gotten less cautious over the past months and it started to show.

Many articles emerged, combining past events and new ones into whole stories and speculations. The hashtag #Taekook was trending at every social media platform. There were different stories invented, many aspects revealed and pictures came in one after another. Now not only shippers and fans used it, but also news and tabloid press would mark them.

Their long absence at the award show was mentioned. They pointed out the timing when both of them vanished for many minutes, too long for a normal restroom break. The bite mark or hickey that followed was visible on Jungkook's collarbone during and after their performance as well as in their live broadcast and all of this made Army grow even more curious.

Pictures showed Taehyung's car being spotted near Jungkook's house. Driving in but not coming out of the garage for what seemed like weeks. Why would he just stay at his friend's home for longer than a weekend? The suspicions rose.

Jimin and Jungkook were seen visiting a jewellery shop together. People were coming up with the wild idea of this pair was dating, but others concluded Taehyung's best friend was there to help Jungkook choose the perfect ring with him.

Then they left for a fancy restaurant the same day with Jungkook storming off alone into the night. Suspiciously the same night Taehyung was seen at the airport returning earlier than his schedule suggested all while not heading to his own home but Jungkook's.

Their long date day was also evaluated. Showing both, Taehyung and Jungkook leaving the younger's home together. They were seen visiting a crafts workshop, then returned home and later were spotted at Han river for an outside date, same day, same outfits.
They had gotten bold, too bold for their own safety. There were even pictures and videos of them holding hands and cuddling out in the open.

The same day, some weren't too sure if this was true or not, but again they were spotted, now with different clothes, visiting the same fancy restaurant Jungkook went to with Jimin a few weeks earlier. Some connected the dots, others denied the speculations.

And then the latest pictures were included.

Taehyung and Jungkook wearing almost identical rings on their ring fingers. Sure, they had worn several couple items over the past years, but these particular rings were on another level. Some pointed out the connection between Jimin's and Jungkook's visit to the jewellery shop and others found Jungkook visiting again after a few weeks, alone.

Very intrusive fans and journalists went to visit the store a few times to investigate, but thankfully the store owner declined giving out any information.

The power this couple held was immense. But it was not only a positive thing. There were too many haters that turned their attention to the sole fact that two men could be dating, even being secretly engaged or married. It was still something the public viewed as wrong and sinful.

Both of them were called to an urgent meeting, where their band members, managers, the head of relationship affairs, social media staff and the company's CEO waited for them.
No one would like the topic that needed to be discussed, but they had to do some damage control. At least from the company's perspective.
