I'd been waiting for Kiara at the club for 20 minutes. My best friend, my absolute rock, was late on her birthday, of all days! How could she be late on her special day? Oh my god, this girl!
I was about to call her Just then, a voice echoed through the club, shouting my name. I knew that voice; it was Kiara. She looked stunning in a black bodycon dress that accentuated her curves, her brownish hair framing her face perfectly.
"Adarika, you're here?" she asked, approaching me with a bright smile.
"No, my ghost is standing in front of you," I replied sarcastically, feigning anger.
Kiara apologized, explaining she was torn between two dresses. "Sorry Ika, I was just confused." Her puppy face was irresistible.
"I can't believe you're 25 now, Kia," I teased, rolling my eyes.
"Yeah, you know na 'Dil To Bacha Hai Ji'," She replied grinning wider.
"Oh really, then who will marry with this small baby and what are you doing here small baby go home and sleep," I teased her and smirked wider,
"Am I looking child to you Ika? Today's my birthday why would I go home and sleep? It's my day and I want to enjoy this day with you having lot of fun,"She said and started moving her hips to the music.
"Fine!"
"Let's enjoy tonight, please?" she asked.
"Okay, but I won't drink," I said.
Kiara persisted, making those adorable puppy eyes. "Come on, Ika, just for me?" She knew my weakness; I couldn't deny her.
"Please, Kia, try to understand," I pleaded, using my most persuasive puppy eyes. She nodded, and we spent the next few hours enjoying ourselves, dancing together. But then, my phone rang, interrupting our fun.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Mam, we have an urgent case at the hospital," the voice on the other end said breathlessly. "A child arrived with a bodyguard, running a high fever, but he's not cooperating and is running around."
"Okay, I'm on my way. Please distract him until I arrive," I instructed.
As a pediatrician, I have a deep affection for children, which is why I chose this profession. I love my job.
"Kia, I have to go to the hospital. There's an urgent case. Text me when you get home safely," I said to which she pouted but as a doctor she also know our resposiblity.
