We ended up watching the Perks of Being a Wallflower and I left their house around 10:45. By the time I got home, my mind was completely occupied with thoughts of my mystery guy from the fro-yo place. Who was he? Why did he pay for me? What did he want from me? We didn’t even know each other! I’d never seen him before. I was so confused… but at the same time, I wanted to know who he was. Why he chose to pay for me. There were plenty of other, prettier, girls in there. So why me?

I walked up to my room and as I was about to close my curtains, I saw chase sneaking out of her house. I figured she would come over; I mean we had done that before. But, she walked the other way. I brushed it off but made a mental note to ask her about it tomorrow.

I fell asleep that night, thinking about everything that had happened in the last 10 hours.  I woke up around 5:30. I had no idea why. I never wake up that early. NEVER! I walked downstairs to find breakfast and settled on some toast and fruit. I went back up to my room and finished my food by 6.

Just as I was about to go get ready, my phone rang with Chase’s ringtone. She asked if I would want to show some people around town and have breakfast with them at the diner, since they were new in town. I was more than willing to, since I’d lived here all my life and knew the town like the back of my hand. I realized that if we were going to be eating at 9, there would be a wait, so I asked if I should make a reservation. Chase told me to go ahead and make a reservation for 4.

I started getting dressed. Casual. I picked out a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a black tank top with an anchor in white.  I went to my bathroom and French-braided my bangs back so that they would stay out of my face. I moved to put on my makeup. I went with a simple brown smokey effect that brought out the blue in my eyes. I was walking over to my window to open the curtains and let some light in and as I opened them, I saw Chase and some walking mountain of a guy walking to her front door. She had turned away and started walking to her door when he grabbed her waist and turned her around to… kiss her? What the actual fuck?! Who was this guy? I’d never seen him before. And chase and I hang out with the same people so I should know him. I mean I can see why she was attracted to him, and clearly she was because she was sucking his face, he is really good looking. But why didn’t she tell me!? Ok. I admit I sound kind of hypocritical, considering my situation, but still! We were GOING to talk about this later. She had no way of getting out of this.

She got up to her room and saw me there in the window. I gave her a look that told her we would be talking later. And that ‘later’ happened to be in 45 minutes. I was already ready to go, but instead of going over early, I decided to stay home; mind my own business until I had to confront her. Until I had her full attention.

When it was finally time for me to go over, I grabbed the purse Chase gave me a couple months ago, and my iPhone with the British flag case, and let myself in. She had just gotten downstairs. All she said was “Hey there. You lookin’ mighty fine. Cute purse.”

All I could say in response was “Thanks. You look cute too.” Not something that I would normally say in a normal conversation and she could tell.

“Are you ok?”  she asked.

Are you ok?!? Seriously?!?! Was she really asking me that? She could tell that I was mad. Probably just by the look on my face. After my yelling at her, she explained who he was and that he was one of the guys we were going to breakfast with this morning. He was new… that explained why I didn’t know him. But that also meant that he had only lived here for 2 days.  I had to admit that her story was really cute. But also irresponsible!

Just as I was starting to explain that the point wasn’t that she liked him, the doorbell rang. That must have been him and the other person; whoever he or she may be. Chase yelled for them to come in and just like I'd thought, the walking mountain walked in; having to duck under the door frame. He was even taller than I thought! I put him at at least 6’7. Chase introduced us to each other and I found out that his name was David. He clearly already knew who I was, which creeped me out just a little. As he was moving closer to Chase, I saw another figure move in the door way. Chase was already speaking to him saying “Hi, you must be Trent. I’m Chase.”  All he said was a quiet “Hi Chase, nice to meet you.”

Even though it was quiet, I recognized the voice. I didn’t know where or what from. I just knew it. I looked up and didn’t really pay any attention to anything about him… until I saw those eyes. Those were HIS eyes. The eyes that belonged to my mystery guy whose name was apparently Trent. Those eyes that left me in a trance at the frozen yogurt shop. Those eyes that left the zoo running around in my stomach. Which was happening again right now? What was happening? And why? I stood there frozen. Just staring into those eyes that seemed to stare right back into my soul. I felt so vulnerable under his gaze. I wanted to turn but it was like I was trapped.

Thank god Chase broke the awkward silence. I had seen her and David exchanging glances. My guess was that they were wondering why Trent and I just froze there. I had goosebumps from what you could call ‘my interaction’ with Trent. I noticed Chase looking at me, probably hoping for some sort of explanation on what had just happened, but I just stood there and stared at the ground. We took Chase’s jeep to the diner. Thankfully she noticed the awkwardness and let me ride shotgun instead of sitting in the back with him.

This was going to be an interesting breakfast.
