Jungkook’s world came to a screeching halt, the words echoing in his ears like a relentless gale. His face, usually a fortress of composure, crumbled under the weight of the truth.

His eyes, once full of warmth and certainty, now flickered with the shadows of doubt and hurt. A single breath caught in his throat, heavy as stone, as he struggled to wrap his mind around the reality that Younie was not his child. The bond he thought unbreakable now felt like a delicate thread, frayed and fragile.

His hands trembled, not with rage, but with the overwhelming sense of loss—a future he had envisioned, evaporating before his eyes. Jungkook’s reaction was not loud or violent; it was the quiet devastation of a man whose identity as a father had been quietly stripped away, leaving a silent void in its wake.

Heejin, enveloped in such a profound silence, departs with her daughter without uttering a word, her posture bent. Meanwhile, Younie, too, refrains from speaking, and for reasons unknown, jungkook does not detain them but merely watches with a lingering gaze as they fade from view.

After a few silent minutes, he starts running, shoving his phone into his pocket. He isn't chasing after them, but he runs without knowing where to go. Mid-stride, he pulls out his phone and dials a number.

"Hyung?

"Yes, I can hear you."

"Hyung, I'm coming to your place, okay?"

"Alright, come over, no problem."

"I'm running over."

Hearing Jungkook's final words, he ends the call and heads out on his motorcycle in search of his younger one. Namjoon, knowing all his feelings and understanding from his tone what's happening, spots him running down the road after about five minutes. He stops the bike and embraces him tightly from behind. Jungkook tries to run, but he's held so firmly that there's no escaping.

He breaks down crying again, but this time they sit on the ground. At that late hour, around eleven, the street is empty, so they sit on the sidewalk, unbothered by passing cars.

Namjoon knows he only runs like this when he's in deep pain.

They're not related by blood or family, but the younger one is an orphan. When Jungkook was ten, a family adopted him, but his luck was so bad that they abused him and made him work day and night. Unable to bear it, he ran away.

He was so young and innocent that he didn't know where to go, so he ended up in another city. He couldn't even say where he came from. Namjoon's family, though not well-off, took him in and provided for him. They had a small grocery store where Jungkook helped out, not for money, but for food and shelter. Despite being only three years apart, they were always together, and Jungkook spent half his childhood and adolescence with Namjoon's family. They went to school together.
