Clarisse was,well...
She was an enigma for our dear Annabeth here.
Clarisse was rude and snarky, yet kind and slow of anger. (No matter how good her act of pretending she was truly angry was..) She was both slow to step in to stop a fight, and quick to step out if things crossed her level of morals. She was a confusing, even if somewhat charming, enigma. However Percy, much to her amazement, was much more like an open book. A book that when looked at by the naked eye, produced nothing more or less than the printed words on the first sheet. Though, looking deeper helps you to find the secret compartments, small ink smudges from pages sticking together for too long, and the pages that were ripped out entirely, leaving only the evidence of the books jagged edges inside to prove they were even there to begin with. An open book, that many people never got the chance to read.
When she found Clarisse and Percy sitting together a bit after Capture the flag, (The fact that they should've been at their cabins was irrelevant, for she would've been a hypocrite to say they couldn't have been out there to their faces..)
she'd at first, been a little paranoid to be honest. Those two originally seemed to clash more than even oil and vinaigrette!
Now, they seemed more like the most perfect example of a real family! She'd later come to find out that opposites tend to make quite a good pair. This was first shown when Clarisse and Percy took out another monster trying, and failing, to reach the boarders of Camp half-blood together, only to fist bump and squabble about who gave it more scars before it became dust.
She loved Percy romantically, but she loved Clarisse like a sister in-law, that was actually fun to hang around with! They were all connected, that was for sure. So when the prophecy hit, she understood why the line of "7 to 8 to steal" and "8 or none to heal" had been sewn into it.
(For she'd had a startling hunch as to what names the rest of those numbers could've belonged to, even given the little knowledge she'd had at the time.It was one of the many future prophecies under her belt. Those words weren't from her first one though so it had been fine back then.)However, Luke's betrayal was...a lot different than it was supposed to go. (Apollo told her that much. He ranted her ear off in an anger filled haiku for an hour! Not her fault he chose to try and calm down in her favorite book reading spot..) For one, he was supposed to give Percy a leg full of scorpions. Instead, he announced his plan to come back and get the ones he'd cared about... including Percy...and her.
Clarisse wasn't supposed to go ahead and appoint herself as an extra party member for their quest either, but here she was, a backpack full of ambrosia squares and weapons alike on her back. It'd been evident that she'd snuck out her cabin window, and even more evident that she'd appointed someone else as her cabin's leader. This was because, if she recalls right, a newer kid of a few years older of age than she, was waving through said window, bright smile accompanied by a multitude of bandaids across his face. Ya. Because he looked like he could keep a secret like this from anyone. (So much sarcasm. So.Much.)Actually, just to clear this up, why doesn't she finally just show the prophecy right now. Alright, it went somewhat like this:
"You shall go west, and give hope to the god who has burned, You shall find what was broken, and see it clearly mended and returned, You shall be loved by one who calls you fiend, And you may fail to save what matters most, if you were to take the solo lead.".
Let's break it down, shall we?.
"You shall go West", was self-explanatory.
However, at the time, she'd been uncertain for who the one "who has burned" could've been. In the end, it was the same god as intended. He wasn't supposed to be given hope, however. He was supposed to get a face full of water, but being friends with a certain child of his had it's perks. It wasn't actually supposed to be "what" that was broken. Rather, it ended up being someone instead. Or, maybe it was a "what" in that statement, considering that they'd all had to save the sibling bond of the moon and sun. It'd been evident that the relationship had been mended. Especially when hen The moon goddess had asked if the Sun would give her and her hunters a quick visit, devoid of the sun hitting on her hunters, every now and again.
She found out rather quickly who'd call Percy a "fiend". Hades. Earlier that week, they'd befriended his son. She's not going to even dare to question why Nico was in a wacky time machine looking thing. Questions for later years.
She knew Hade was the type of person (Or god.) to call Percy a fiend, but he didn't. No. The prophecy had been talking about Luke. Luke would promise more empty promises of family to people... people like her. God's what did she see in him? He promised a sister brother bond, and all it turned out to be were mediocre attempts to get them to join him.
"If you take the solo lead.". That was meaningful to her and the rest in a way none of the lines had before been able to compete with. If Percy were to try to sacrifice himself, (which he did quite frequently. The fool!) they'd all fail this mission. Percy would die cold and alone, and they would die, inside and out.
Percy helped give her, Grover, Clarisse, and even Luke, a way to have general hope for the future. Hell, with the way things were going, Luke might actually come back! Which unfortunately for her, means they'll all have to be more protective over Percy! Luke was a horrible influence to his psyche.(I'm now realizing I like this AU a lot more than originally thought, so I won't finish this here, I'm going to try making a book of it! But the jist for this is that, since there was mention of future prophecies after all, that the quest was a success! =] )
