"Why exactly do you want a Slytherin?" Sylvia questioned her best friend.

"Because, every Hufflepuff needs a Slytherin - or so I was told," Maya answered as they continued down the empty hallway.

Both girls were sixth year Hufflepuffs, with issues longer than the queue for Honeydukes on a Hogsmeade weekend, and more tangled than Professor Snape's greasy hair.

Sylvia nodded as her brain processed it, "I get it. It's like a thing now, every Slytherin has an emotional support Hufflepuff."

"Exactly!" Maya grinned, "Anyways, I want someone nice, who won't run away from me, someone who's sweet, and kind, and loving-"

"Stay out of my fucking way if you value your kneecaps, because I'm not in the mood for charity cases today!" An accented voice threatened.

Maya and Sylvia paused, staring wide-eyed at the well-known Slytherin up ahead, glaring down at a younger, shorter, Slytherin. Tom Riddle was clearly not in a good mood, his voice low yet angry.

"I don't want to see your face again, got it?"

The poor young Slytherin nodded eagerly, terrified, before running off, passing the two girls.

Tom's gaze fell upon them, glaring before turning and stalking down the hallway.

"I want that one!" Maya exclaimed, rushing towards the retreating figure.

"Ay! No! Maya!" Sylvia shouted, making a run for it to catch her best friend.

Unfortunately she was too slow from stopping her friend from running after the terrifying sixth year Slytherin. She immediately hid behind a pillar, praying for her best friend's safe return.

"Excuse me?" Maya called out, tugging his sleeve.

Tom turned to her with a glare. "What?" He snapped.

That didn't put Maya off. She just beamed up at him, "I'm Maya, I'm socially awkward, and can eat a burger in two bites."

Tom frowned, clearly thrown off, "Okay...?"

"I wanna be your friend."

"I don't need friends, nor do I want any." He said sternly and turned to walk away - but Maya didn't relent.

"Too bad, I want you to be my friend. You don't get a choice."

Tom frowned. "Excuse me?"

"You're excused. Now come on, we should go study together," And then she was dragging the shocked and confused Slytherin down the hall by his arm.

"I see you were successful," Sylvia grinned as she joined the pair in the library.

"Get her away from me," Tom said through gritted teeth.

"No can do, mister, you must suffer."

Maya pouted, "Be nice to my emotional support Slytherin, Sylvia."

"Maya, I said Slytherins tend to have an emotional support Hufflepuff, not the other way around," Sylvia pointed out, completely ignoring the man with them.

"Oh. Well, too bad, he's my emotional support Slytherin."

"You do you, bestie," Sylvia gave her a thumbs up.

Tom just sighed and opened the textbook in front of him - anything to get out of the conversation. (He had tried to leave earlier but Maya threatened to sit on him)

"I don't get it," Maya pouted, staring at the book in front of her, before turning to the Slytherin beside her, "Tom! Explain it to me."

Tom took a deep breath to calm himself, glaring at her.

"You're literally known for your brains - help me, please?" She clasped her hands together and looked at him pleadingly.

"Will you leave me alone if I help you?"

"Obviously not."

"Then no."

Maya pouted, "But I don't get it."

"Not my problem."

"Rude ass."

Tom sent her a glare.

"Hey Maya-" A Gryffindor Maya knew greeted her as she approached, faltering at the sight of the Slytherin beside the Hufflepuff, "Why are you hanging out with him? Is he forcing you to do something? Do you need help?" He whispered to her.

Tom rolled his eyes and looked back at his book.

Maya glared at the Gryffindor, "Don't talk shit about my emotional support Slytherin - or I'll bite your dick off and feed it to your mother!"

The Gryffindor looked horrified, Tom was staring at the Hufflepuff in surprise, and Sylvia was snickering, munching on a bag of candies.
