"Please open the door," I shouted but he locked the door and shut off the lights.

I put Rian down and greeted everyone, trying to compose myself. My father introduced me to the gathering, "She is our daughter, Adarika." His mother, dressed in a elegant saree, smiled warmly and patted the seat beside her, indicating for me to sit. I sat down, trying to appear poised, and returned her smile.
"What do you do, Adarika beta?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I'm a doctor, pediatrician, Aunty ji," I replied, trying to sound confident.
"Don't call me Aunty, call me Maa from today," she said, her voice filled with affection.
I nodded, feeling a sense of warmth towards her. "He is our son, Rudra," she introduced, gesturing towards a handsome young man sitting across from me.
"Hey," he said, his voice deep and smooth.
"Hello," I replied, trying to sound casual.
As the conversation flowed, I realized that Rudra seemed just as unenthusiastic about the marriage as I was. I wondered why he had agreed to it?
Did they force him for this marriage?
The discussion turned to wedding preparations, and I found myself zoning out, feeling like an outsider in my own family. I excused myself, citing the need to help with lunch preparations.
As I served food to the guests, my eyes met Rudra's, and I felt a spark of understanding. We were both trapped in this arranged marriage, and I wondered if we would ever find a way out.
After lunch, the conversation turned to wedding preparations again, I excused myself, citing the need to make a phone call.
I stepped outside and dialed my elder brother Rayan's number, but he didn't pick up. I left a message, hoping he would call me back soon.
Feeling a sense of desperation, I called my best friend Kia, who answered on the first ring.
"Hey, girl! What's up?" she asked, her voice bubbly as always.
"Kia, my parents fixed my marriage," I blurted out, trying to process my emotions.
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Kia exploded into a barrage of questions. "What the fuck?! With whom? When? Why? How does he look? What's his name?"
I laughed, feeling a sense of relief at having someone to talk to. "Tham ja, bhen, tham ja!" I said, trying to calm her down.
Kia continued to pepper me with questions, and I filled her in on the details. She was shocked to learn that Rudra was my fiancé but more shocking thing for her was his elder brother.
