AUTHOR NOTE: This is my first story. My face claims came from Pinterest but I do have her Instagram if y'all want that (Ik how y'all be) if you don't like it don't read it I will block you with
Hi, my name is Celeste Elinora my name means heavenly shining star my mom named me that because she thought she'd never be able to have kids and then I came and was like a shining star that brightened everything up for her. I was fine without siblings because my parents treated me like I was their whole world and I loved the attention. We'd always do stuff together and I was so happy yeah having a sibling would have been fun but at the same time I wanted all their attention.
After my dad got laid off from his job all that changed he became abusive to my mom and my mom started using drugs. My dad started pimping out my mom and neglected me. My mom, even tho she was high out of her mind always took care of me until her death. My dad got busted for drugs and was arrested. I moved in with my grandmother down deep in the South which is why today I woke up to the smell of fried fish shrimp and grits with my grandmother opening up my windows and telling me it's time for school.
"Come on pitit fi (granddaughter I don't speak the language I used Google translate pls tell me if I spelled it wrong I will change it) it's time for school it's the first day and a half a day you should be fine. If you get up I'll buy your SHEIN cart the whole thing" my grandmother called out closing the door and laughing to herself once she saw me get up. Today was the first day of junior year. I used to love school and even skipped a couple of grades which is why I'm 15 my classmates would flirt with me at first but when they found out my age everyone wanted nothing to do with me. I like being alone anyway it's just the comments people make.
Time skip: Leaving the building I was waiting for my grandmother to pick me up so I could go to my driving lesson when Mark the football star player pushed me making everything fall out of my hands. "Oops, I didn't see you there." Making all his friends laugh. In Dora's voice I thought "Do y'all find something funny or is it just me missing the joke" but I guess I said it out loud because Mark turned around and said, "What was the pipsqueak?" I rolled my eyes and said "See you at Church" and started walking towards my grandmother's car when Mark pulled my tote bag off my shoulder causing my stuff to fall YET AGAIN. "what did you say pip squeaked" Mark was getting louder and drawing a crowd which I didn't like. I don't like attention and my grandmother doesn't know I'm being bullied.
"MARK SAINTCLAIR move away from my grandmother before I shoot yo black ass," my grandmother said with her gun covered in pink rhinestones pointed at Mark. Shit and Mark both said out loud. The crowd around us started to move away because everyone knows not to fuck with my grandmother. She is a stud and looks young asf for her age. She's also the biggest mob boss in our area. Everyone is scared of her which is crazy how they still bother me.
I got in the car with my grandmother making a very much illegal u-turn in her 1957 Cadillac Series 6 Coupe almost hitting a hit not fucks given her license that's suspended and has been since before my mom was born. "Hey, granm" The drive to my driving lesson was her cursing me out in Creole before she stopped by Chick-fil-A and used what I think is my card that went missing to pay. But at the same time she puts money on it I can't complain.
TIME SKIP AGAIN: I was home cooking when some people came from my grandmother's home office in her basement. The tall one with the dreads and tatted like a chipotle bag was cute tho he just looked high ash. I knew all of them but two but I have basic home training so I said hi to everyone and told them what I was making. My grandmother likes to have meetings with her close friends at home and her home is also like the hang-out spot so there's always food cooked by me and the chefs in the fridge. When I first got here I was scared but after a while, I got used to never being alone and always having someone here with me.
"We going to a party meme already said yes. When you are done cooking there's gonna be an outfit on your bed." My older cousin Mira said rubbing on her girlfriend who sat in her lap. Mira and her girlfriend make me wanna throw up bc I'm so single. "Mira stop going around me and going to meme that's not fair you know I hate going out," I said rolling my eyes. "Ladybugs it will be fine," Tone one of the workers who became like family said. "You can stay by my side the whole time. Don't worry bug it will be fun." My uncle Phoenix who I don't call uncle because we mad close in age said.
Everyone else started adding their two cents before my grandmother came upstairs. "Your going don't ask. I got a hot date with this fine bitch tonight and need the house to myself. Thank you for dinner" she said kissing my forehead taking her plate and going to her room. My grandmother is gay and had several kids through IVF and even gave birth to some gay couples so I got mad uncles and aunts. Like 20 but we don't talk abt it. Phoenix is her youngest and is in his freshman year of college.
The drive to the party was filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Phoenix had his music blaring, and Mira was in the backseat, fixing her makeup while her girlfriend played with her phone. I sat quietly, staring out the window, wondering what the night would bring.
When we arrived, the house was already pulsing with music, and the front yard was filled with people. I took a deep breath and followed my family inside. The lights were dim, and the air was thick with the smell of sweat
and perfume. I stuck close to Phoenix as we weaved through the crowd."Relax, Bug. Just have fun," he whispered, giving me a reassuring smile.
I nodded, trying to take his advice. I found myself a spot near the snack table and watched the room. It was overwhelming, but also kind of exciting. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see the guy with the dreads and tattoos standing there.
"Hey, I'm Sorin. Celeste, right?" he said with a friendly smile. "Yeah, that's me," I replied, feeling a little shy. "Wanna smoke with me ?" he asked, extending his hand.I hesitated but then decided to take a chance. Phoenix had left me for his favorite hoe. "Sure." We made our way to the outside on the front porch where there wasn't a lot of people but enough where I felt safe in case he was a werido and I even started to relax a little.Sorinhad a way of making me feel comfortable. For the first time in a long while, I felt like a normal teenager.. It was a nice change from the usual routine of feeling like an outsider. When it was time to go, I felt a little sad to leave. But as I climbed into the car with my family, I realized that maybe things were starting to look up. Maybe, just maybe, this new beginning in the South wasn't going to be so bad after all.
The next morning, I woke up feeling different. I don't know if it was the text from Sorin saying "im picking you up from driving school tdy either you outside on time or your getting left." or what but something felt different in a good way.
The party had been a turning point, and I was ready to embrace this new chapter of my life.
My grandmother had left a note on the kitchen table, reminding me that I had another driving lesson that afternoon. I smiled, feeling grateful for her tough love and support.
I spent the day helping out around the house and catching up on some schoolwork. When it was time for my driving lesson, I felt more confident than I had in a long time. My instructor, Mr. Harris, was patient and encouraging, and by the end of the lesson, I was starting to feel like I might actually get the hang of driving.
As we pulled back into the driveway, Mr. Harris my driving instructor gave me a nod of approval. "You're doing great, Celeste. Keep it up.""Thanks, Mr. Harris," | replied, feeling a sense of accomplishment. That evening, as I sat down to dinner with my grandmother and the rest of the family, I realized that I was starting to find my place here. It wasn't easy, and there were still a lot of challenges to face, but I was beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And as I looked around the table at the people who had become my family, I knew that I wasn't alone. I had their support, and that all the difference in lifeThe weeks turned into months, and I found myself settling into a new routine. School was still challenging, but I was starting to make friends and find my way. Sorin and I became close, and he introduced me to his group of friends, who welcomed me with open arms.
My driving lessons continued to go well, and I was finally feeling confident behind the wheel.
My grandmother even let me take her Cadillac out for a spin one weekend, which was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking because she loves her car she always lets me practice using a different car. If we're being honest I'm only taking ding lessons from Mr. Harris because he's in my grandmothers pockets and he signed my permit. At home, I took on more responsibilities, helping with cooking and taking care of the house. My grandmother's home had always been a hub of activities and since I love cooking I had no problem doing my part.
