Next to the name ‘Min Si Young’ written on the board, I drew a few branches and mustered a cheery voice.

“So, first off, Yu Chan hyung. Is there a Min Si Young sunbae song that comes to mind right now?”

Yu Chan hyung, who had been stroking his chin in thought, blinked and finally spoke.

“…How about ‘Message of the 25th Hour’? Haha, it’s my karaoke go-to song….”

I nodded and wrote the song title Yu Chan hyung mentioned on the whiteboard.

<Message of the 25th Hour>

A vocal track boasting Min Si Young’s wide vocal range, transitioning between high and low tones.

However, being a vocal track, it incorporated light choreography and cute stage setups, making it seem like the song Yu Chan Hyung finally suggested after much thought would suit our team members the best.

Well, it was indeed his karaoke favorite.

Actually, ‘Message of the 25th Hour’ wasn’t a bad choice.

Lyrics quaintly conveying waiting for a call until it’s somehow the 25th hour seemed quite fitting for trainees undergoing this survival, and with clearly divided high and low tones, it was easy to distribute parts.

But then…

“It seems like it lacks impact compared to other teams.”

Right, that.

“’Message of the 25th Hour’ has overly simple choreography and relies a lot on stage configurations with backup dancers… Compared to teams showcasing intense choreography like Leopold or 2OCD, it’ll just get buried.”

Jang Si Woo, who had been burying his nose in his notebook, pointed out a flaw in Yu Chan hyung’s idea with a small voice.

Then, he seemed slightly anxious, as if worried that he might get criticized for merely objecting without offering any ideas of his own.

“…Sorry, I did think about something else.”

“Ah, I knew it! I was just throwing out the first thing that came to mind. You’re right, Si Woo. You’re really smart!”

“…….”

Yu Chan hyung is perceptive enough that if he pays just a bit more attention to how I interact with Si Woo, he’d know the right approach. We’re not perfectly in sync yet, but it wasn’t a bad attempt, hyung.

I gave Yu Chan hyung, who by now might be at -42 in Si Woo’s estimation, a secret thumbs-up, and smiled at Si Woo, who had finally taken a step closer to us.

“Jang Si Woo, got any thoughts? Feel free to speak up. The more we brainstorm, the better.”

Jang Si Woo, with wide eyes, clicked his teeth against his fingernail once before speaking.

“I… Si Young noona, sorry. Senior Min Si Young’s album track ‘Snow High’ from her 7th album that won Album of the Year last year.”

“Snow High? Ah, that double title track! I think I know it. Mhm, ‘In this snow, let’s go high’, right?”

As Yu Chan hyung showcased his impressive main vocalist quality voice, Si Woo continued with a slight smile.

“…Yes. The backup dancers had choreography too, and since it’s summer now, it could give off a cool vibe. For the outfits, maybe matching goggles or hats would be nice.”

“Hmm. I agree with Si Woo, but wouldn’t the vocal range be too high for the four of us to cover? You know, since Chunyong and Ryota have somewhat lower tones….”

“…Ah.”

Yu Chan hyung and Si Woo exchanged awkward glances. I immediately knew what conversation they were having in their heads.

‘I knew it’d be hard, but this is ridiculously hard.’

The lost rehearsal room began to buzz with various song titles.

From Min Si Young’s debut song that showcased her genius, to the digital single released last month, to the first song with a guitar composition that hit number 1, and so on.

I calmly wrote down every song they mentioned on the whiteboard, making sure to occasionally suggest viable songs myself.

But still…

With just a bit more prodding, I felt like the song I was thinking of might just come up.

What to do.

To facilitate the mission’s smooth progression, I decided to give the still silent and slightly frozen Ryota a tiny, tiny hint, turning to him with anticipation.

“Ryota, didn’t you say you had some ideas?”

“Well, um, ah. That is to say….”

After looking at me, Yu Chan hyung, and Si Woo one by one, Ryota suddenly broke into a sweat and then slammed his head onto the floor of the rehearsal room, yelling out.

“I’m sorry! I don’t really know Mentor Min Si Young’s songs!”

The third dogeza of the day.
