It was cold. Shui felt as if there were knives stabbed into every corner of her head, she felt the pulsing headache grow, before slowly disappearing. What happened? She struggled to open her eyes, letting out a painful groan.
"Can you hear me?"
Ah, she must've taken a hit. Her partner is probably tending to her wounds. Except, why did his voice sounded so high-pitched? A hand gently pushed away her hair that was covering her face.
"Can you open your eyes?" the voice spoke again. She recognized this voice.
Her eyes fluttered open, expecting to see her partner's blue eyes. But she was staring at a pair of brown ones. Why weren't they blue?
This was Charles, not Mark.
Where is he? Shui felt a lump in her throat and the headache grow stronger. He promised. He said that he had her back. Everything came back in a flash.
Mark pushed her.
She couldn't understand the emotion she felt.
Rage? Sadness?
It didn't matter. She slowly gazed behind Charles, who was checking her head for wounds. The sound of waves crashing down filled her ears.
She should've drowned.
