As you sat at the dinner table with Heeseung and his parents, you couldn't shake the feeling of tension in the air. His parents were polite and welcoming, but there was something in their demeanor that made you uneasy. You tried to push the feeling aside, chalking it up to nerves, and focused on making small talk and engaging in the conversation.
But when you excused yourself to use the bathroom, you couldn't help but overhear snippets of conversation from the other room. Your heart sank as you realized they were talking about you.
"...she's just using you for your fame..."
"...you need to find someone more suitable, someone who will support you..."
The words stung like a knife to the heart, and you struggled to hold back tears as you quietly made your way back to the dinner table. You wiped your eyes and cleared your throat, putting on a brave face as you rejoined the group.
"Y/N, dear, how lovely to see you back," Heeseung's mother said, her smile not quite reaching her eyes.
"Yes, it's always nice to have you over," his father added, but there was a coldness in his tone that made your stomach churn.
As the evening went on, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, but the words of Heeseung's parents continued to weigh heavily on your mind. You tried to participate, to laugh at the jokes and share stories, but the unease lingered like a shadow.
Eventually, Heeseung's siblings arrived, and the atmosphere lightened slightly as they exchanged stories and laughter. But the tension between you and Heeseung's parents remained palpable, casting a pall over the rest of the evening.
As dinner came to an end, you leaned over to Heeseung and whispered that you were going to leave. He looked confused, but you reassured him that you would take a taxi home. You couldn't bear to stay any longer, knowing that you were not welcome in his parents' eyes.
After you left, Heeseung returned home, his mind buzzing with thoughts. He walked into the bedroom to find you asleep, your face peaceful in the dim light. He sighed, feeling a pang of guilt for not realizing sooner that something was wrong.
But little did he know, you were only pretending to sleep. Tears stained your cheeks as you lay there, the weight of his parents' words heavy on your heart. You wished things could be different, but for now, all you could do was hold onto the hope that one day, they would see the love you and Heeseung shared, and accept you as part of the family.
