The Beginning of Her Story

The day I was born, I remember seeing both my mother and my father, however, it wasn't a joyous occasion as my mother died that very day. After my mother died I was left with my father, who was already married, which left me as an illegitimate child, and my stepmother didn't like that whatsoever. So as I grew up, I wasn't treated very well by anyone, so even though I care about my family I try to keep to myself. Everyone in the manner spoiled my half-sister with everything she wanted and it led to my half-sister doing things just to get attention.

As time passed I spent more time on my own, which led to me learning magic, which I've been hiding from my family, and reading every book in the manner. Anytime my half-sister wanted to go someplace my father and stepmother would drop everything that they were doing to go wherever she wanted to go. Whenever they were gone, I handled the paperwork for my father, although, he doesn't know that I'm the one who does it. It doesn't bother me anymore that he doesn't know, and he doesn't know that occasionally I leave the manner, however, the people that live on the land that my father owns know that I'm the one that handles the things that my family is supposed to handle. Now that I'm eighteen, I hold more power and influence than my father, who is a Duke of the Empire, and my father is second only to the Emperor, although my family doesn't know that. It just means that if I were to ever leave my family for whatever reason, I'd be able to do more than what my father can do now, even if he doesn't do it. Although if my father or my family ever wanted me to stay if I did leave, they would probably have to beg me to stay.

I sat in my room, reading a book about the history of the Empire again for the fifth time, as a maid came into the room. I didn't have to look up from the book to know that the maid was there. "The lady, Duchess, and Duke have left the estate." The maid said, to which I glanced up from the book to look at the maid. As I looked at the maid I could tell that she was irritated, though it didn't come as a surprise for me as I'm aware that most if not everyone hates or dislikes me. After a while, I looked back at the book and continued to read where I left off, despite the annoyance of the irritated maid, and I knew that the maid was up to something.

"Why am I being informed about the actions and whereabouts of my family at every moment?" I looked at the maid knowing that my father was right behind her, who was not happy about anything going on or the fact that I was being informed about every little of what my family was doing. "What about our actions?" My father asked, causing the maid to jump out of her skin in fear of my father, I could tell that the maid was completely terrified of my father, and the sight nearly made me laugh. My father is the type of person who if people don't do things the way that he wants, will do everything in his power to make them suffer. I watched as the maid looked at my father annoyed and irritated about seeing him, although she dared to do so I can guarantee that she will regret defying my father. I could tell that the maid was going to pin the blame on me although it might not work out as she planned it to.

"The brat told us to inform her of your actions." The maid said, Pinning the blame on me, however, the look on my father's face said that she said the wrong thing as usual. The pissed-off look my father gave alongside his overbearing aura. The look my father gave caused the maid to back away from him, although, with how pissed-off my father was, he could probably kill her which would be bad for everyone. "I thought it was clear, she has no authority in this manner, so explain how she can tell you what to do." My father demanded, however, the maid's arrogance caused her to challenge him, although, as funny as this is, I'm worried that my father might do something stupid. The more this conversation continued the more I just wanted to leave this situation, although if did I would have to leave my room or teleport out, which wouldn't be a good idea as my father would know that I can use magic and that would not be good.

"I didn't ask to be notified, however, there have been time where you have left and someone has shown up looking for you." I said, looking up from the book, as my father looked from the maid to me and I could see him start to calm down a little, which is surprising, although the maid seemed a bit pissed that I didn't keep my mouth shut to get her out of the trouble that she caused. "The brat is lying to you sir." The maid said, looking at my father terrified, as my father looked like he was planning on hitting her and that wouldn't be good for anyone. I could feel the magic that my father emitted which was causing the maid to be terrified for her life. "It's possible that she might be new to the manner, although, I don't leave my room, so I guess I wouldn't know." I said, as they looked at me like I said something that my father didn't think of, and my father pushed the maid out of my room. "We will be leaving for a couple of months to the north for a meeting." My father said, as he left my room, whish caught me off guard that he would even tell me where he was going.

After they left my room I looked back at the book and continued to read 'till started to get dark. As I was reading I heard my family leave the mannor, once I heard them leave I teleported to my father's office, and sat down at my father's desk. I sarted sighning the paperwork that my father didnt even bother to do before he left, which I guess is normal for him as no matter when I come into my father's office there is always a pile of paperwork. Time seemed to fly by as I did paperwork, as I didn't realize that the su was rising until light shown through he window onto the desk.
