Chapter 3

(A/N: New chapter!! My motivation and procrastination changes so quickly and so much so I haven't been able to give many chapters so I apologise.

I have my story planned out, just haven't written it yet but I WILL complete this, I can guarantee you that. Also, please leave some comments so I can interact with you guys and so I know what you guys think of this story or chapter.

The next day, K and Alakai are up for magic theory lessons. K started teaching him the basics of magic. Even though Alakai already knows the basics, he would still need to better understand himself in those aspects. Then afterwards, K taught him the many different types of magic. After the lessons, K gave him books about magic theory and he started reading them. And in just a day, Alakai had completely read through the books. The next morning, Alakai entered class with the completed books and it came with the shocked look on K's face. Of course, K should have expected that as the Prince of Aurexia, Alakai would be a quick learner. He just didn't expect that Alakai would complete them in just a day; he thought it would at least take 2 and a half days. But then again, because of that, Alakai does remind him of someone he knows. And they are very much alike in that regard.

"K. I'm now able to hide my species' features," Alakai started.

"What? But I haven't taught you that yet," K asked, confused. Then, it seemed that the realisation hit him. "Wait... you were able to do that just by reading those books?" He asked, dumbfounded.

Alakai nodded.

"Hah... I know I should have expected this but... it's still unbelievable," K sighs. "Anyway, since you already know how to hide them, it's time to move on to practical lessons," He continued. And even for just a split second, he swore he saw a tiny glint in Alakai's heterochromatic eyes.

"We'll be learning basic combat first," K announced.

"Basic combat? Why?" Alakai asked curiously.

"Because since magic is normally used for long ranged attacks, what if someone were to close in the gap between you and them for close range combat?" K questioned.

"It would be very difficult to defend against, maybe even impossible," Alakai answered.

"That's right. It would be impossible for normal species and difficult for a few stronger ones. But in your case, you are a royal hybrid. It is very possible for you to defend against them. Using your quick reflexes and knowledge of close combat and magic, you could very well overpower them as an 'Archon', a person who masters the art of 'close-combat-magic'. The second son of the first royal family is the one who created this and named this form of art," K explained.

They then started training and of course, Alakai picked up the moves really quickly. So they occasionally started having friendly duels with each other but even though K would win every time, K thought that in a few years, Alakai would overpower him completely. Even now, sometimes Alakai would catch K off guard and almost win. Next up, K would move on to magic practical lessons.

I'm sure you know what magic is but on the off-chance that you don't, I'll explain. The use of magic is common in Aurexia. Everyone is born with magic even though they can't feel it and isn't aware of it. As they grow older, they would start noticing its existence and would start to attend school to learn to control it. There are 3 ways to notice the existence of magic. One, is when they feel a tingling sensation of energy in them. Two, is when they subconsciously use magic. And three, the most obvious, is when they start growing their species' features. Since magic is a part of their species' features, it is possible to hide them; though you need to learn how to and practice.

Next, the base of all magic originates from the natural energy known as 'mana'. The magic that someone has depends on their magic affinity, inheritance, or their species. Magic affinity refers to the type of magic someone specialises in. Inheritance refers to the magic that someone inherits from their family. And their species refers to the species' type. Additionally, normal species are only able to use only 1 magic among the countless types of them and the few stronger ones are able to use either 2 or 3 magic. Furthermore, royal hybrids are able to use 6 or more magic. In some rare and unprecedented cases, there are hybrids who are not of royal birth and they are able to use 4 or 5 magic.

Since Alakai is a royal hybrid, the types of magic he can use is unlimited. Since K was pretty sure Alakai knew how to use basic magic even though weak, K started teaching him magic properly and they would eventually develop into stronger ones. And of course, Alakai once again learned them fairly quickly. Additionally, K would also teach him how to utilise them properly and effectively; like when is the right time to use certain magic.
