Chapter - 5
____________

If she could wish something at that moment.

She wanted to pause the time and just once, hug him.

But also something which she knew was better when untouched.

Lexi looked away from him.

"Sorry to hear what happened." She whispered.

He didn't look sad then, he smiled at her face and said - "You should be sorry for the ones who lost their loved ones, but I will take that as just fine."

Lexi didn't know what better conversation she could come up with to distract him from the later topic.

For the very first time, she tried to initiate a talk.

She cleared her throat which was stuck due to getting dry once in a while.

"You-"

He looked at her, his eyes moving around her face.

"Never mind." She said softly.

Now that he had listened to her halfway and she said never mind, he wanted to know what she was saying, it was killing him inside then.

"Just say it, I won't bite." He drove the car in the middle of the shady trees.

What if he bit her and kicked her out once he heard what she wanted to say?

But his tone was a little on the edge and a little out of desperation, she sensed it, if she now tried to not tell him, he might do something in rage.

"You should cut your hair a little, it's... just not quite... levelled."

She might have added that he looked like a version of a caveman with a wild look but she didn't let her instincts control her.

He touched his hair and thought for a while.

"You didn't like it?"

She nervously clutched her arms and laughed - "No, It's fine if you are growing them for yourself, It's looks good on you."

Why am I bluffing? Looks good on you, kill me.

"I asked if you like it or not." He stated.

She breathed, why does it matter if she likes it or not?

"It's good, just a little need of a cut." She said sliding away from him, if that was possible in the car.

He didn't answer for the whole journey, stayed quiet and looked like he was planning where to take her and cut her in half.

Lexi didn't want him to get upset.

The car stopped rigidly.

She halted forward and almost hit the dashboard, but she was clutching onto a seatbelt for too long.

He got out from his side, and she jumped away from him and tried to open the door for herself.

But he was already on the other side, checking if she was ready to get out.

She just smiled at him out in terror.

Those who saw the scene sensed that her face looked like a sheet of paper, pale and delicate.

She jumped out of the car and he closed it, locking it and leading her towards the place he had in mind.

After a while, they were walking in an unknown alley leaving the crowd behind, leading the way as he kept touching his hair once or twice.
