The bold is Nico and the Italic is Star
Stars Pov
It was a quiet Friday afternoon, the kind where time seemed to slow down. I had just settled down on the couch with my poetry book, enjoying the silence but also missing Nyx's laugh. The soft sound of me writing in my pages and the distant hum of my music I had on lowly these were the only sounds. But nothing lasts forever the doorbell rang causing me to get confused on who exactly it was since it was just me and Nyx and she has her keys.
I wasn't expecting anyone. Setting my book down, I walked to the door, guard up ready to protect myself against whoever was here just like Nyx told me to do. As I opened it, my heart dropped as I felt myself not breathing it was cold sweat immediately started dripping down my body.
Standing on the doorstep was Nico, my twin brother who was the golden child always the favorite while I got beat, he got treats. We hadn't seen each other since I ran away to escape the excuse of a fucking home. He looked almost the same, yet different—older, more tired, but with the same spark in his eyes that I remembered. He tried to help but was forced not to since our parents told him not to or he would get treated like me I often told him not to but as we got older, he started not caring I got beat or harassed or that I did self-harm even though he caught me once and just looked at me something in his eyes I couldn't explain
"Hi," he said softly, a small smile appearing on his lips.
"Nico?" I managed to utter, still processing the shock. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?" he asked, glancing around as if to make sure no one was here with me.
No, you can't come in what are you doing here, he sighed pushing me aside to let himself in. My mind raced with questions and my fight or flight instincts activated hoping Nyx would get here soon and get him out he was stronger than me and quicker to catch on to things. The last time I saw Nico, we were both sixteen and living to different lives I was trying to survive, and he was just enjoying his life. I left in the middle of the night and never looked back and took only the things I needed and disappeared there was never a missing report they never fucking cared about me nothing changed.
He sat down in the living room, the air thick with unspoken words. Memories flooded back—of beatings, secrets, and dreams of escaping.
Why are you here? I asked once again he was seated, and I was standing.
Nico took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for just showing up like this. I didn't know where else to go." His voice whimpered just a bit, and I saw his eyes get glossy, but I still didn't feel bad for him. "I've been going through a rough time, and I realized I needed to reach out to someone who knew me before everything happened. And what exactly happened you had the best life.
I didn't.
You did.
After you left, they had no one to beat on anymore Star. They started beating on me and unlike you I had nowhere else to fucking go.
You could have left to.
No, I couldn't have.
And whys that?
Mother was pregnant.
What.
We have a little sister I wasn't going to leave her in that fucking place.
Thats why I'm here I need your help.
With?
I need to get our sister out that house and you have a job a apartment and a partner.
How do you know I have a partner?
I see the pictures Star I'm not an idiot.
I know that Nico.
So, will you help me?
Yes, I know how it is to be beat I won't let her go through that.
He told me about the past few years—a failed escape, a move back to our older house, and the loss of his life he turned to drugs. His life had taken turns he never expected, and he found his self-feeling lost and alone. In is darkest moments, he thought of me and how I got away and how he could to I was hope, he also thought of the simpler times we shared.
"I know it's been so long," he said
A glossy tint filled my own eyes. "I'm glad you came, Nico. I've missed you. Life has been crazy for me as well, but I never forgot you.
We spent the rest of the afternoon talking, catching up on the years we had missed. It felt like no time had passed at all. We laughed about old memories and shared our current struggles and triumphs.
As the sun began to set, I realized how much I had missed this connection, this sense of belonging that only certain people can provide. Nico's unexpected visit reminded me of the importance of my siblings who knew us when we were young, who saw us through our best and worse years.
When he finally left, he promised to visit once a week as he still had to care for out little sister, I said he could come bye anytime and finally met the love of my life my soldier as my thoughts ran to her I thought for a second sitting on the couch where was she? As my thoughts said that she walked in bloodied and battered obviously been beating and hurt in the worse way I ran to her distraught. What had happened she looked at me nothing in her eyes but blood nothing behind them almost falling to her knees. I kept her steady closing the door not saying anything and leading her to the bathroom to get her cleaned we would talk after wards her health and state was the most important.
How we liking this so far is it ass? Do we fuck with Nico? What happened to Nyx?? Who did it and why find out in the next chapter FEEL FREE TO COMMENT GIVE ME ADVICE TO MAKE THIS BETTER!
