Ship: Gaon x Junhan
It was quite late at night, or maybe it was the early morning hours. Jiseok and Hyeongjun weren't sure. But they didn't really care. There wasn't much happening between the two. Just the younger boy laying on his chest, simply regulating his breath to the elder's breathing pattern.
"So what should we do?" Jiseok asked, breaking the comfortable silence, they were pretty sure there was never an awkward moment between the two. They enjoyed each other's presence; no words necessary.
"We have these late night conversations often" Hyeongjun replied, slowly moving closer to Jiseok's face. The latter looked around and turned on the lamp on his nightstand. He could finally make out the introvert's feature well, without any straining his eyes.
Jiseok hummed as an answer, words would simply add nothing to the conversation. After that, they thought of a way to continue the conversation.
Jiseok ran his hand through Hyeongjun's hair. A light blush covered the two's faces. Although the taller boy found himself in an uncomfortable position, he didn't mind as they were together.
"Look we're both thinking the same thing" Jiseok spoke, his tone was slightly harsh. He quickly apologised for how he sounded. But Hyeongjun didn't pick up on it, so he didn't immediately understand Jiseok's apology.
The two boys looked at each other in silence. They made eye contact for a couple of seconds before nodding; without words, they still understood each other.
"Friends don't kiss each other" Hyeongjun said, it was an obvious point. Kisses between friends weren't considered normal. Especially if it happens often. And if they have deeper meaning than just a kiss.
"Hyeongjun-ah..?" Jiseok slowly asked, not wanting anything to change with the question that he was about to ask. He liked how they were in this instance, or over the past few months. Hyeongjun hummed, awaiting the answer. He could tell that it would be something important, as Jiseok would usually have a cheerful tone in his voice.
"Do you think two boys can be in love?" He questioned, when growing up, his parents forbade him to ask anything remotely close to that. He didn't know if it was just fiction, or the actual reality. Hyeongjun bit his lip, he didn't have a close relationship with his parents, even as a child, so he wasn't taught much. He had to spend most of his time studying for a good future, making it impossible for him to research into things like this.
"I- I don't know" He replied with a short stutter at the start. He was unsure, he hoped it was something that truly existed. As he felt that it was something that was happening between the two.
"Do you think Gunil-hyung is up?" Jiseok asked, already taking his phone to call the boy. Hyeongjun hesitated before nodded, the boy looked on his phone, to see which time it was.
2 AM.
Exactly 2, he was now unsure that the elder would be up. But there was nothing wrong with trying.
Gunil, having lived abroad, made him more knowledgeable with this subject. It was why they needed his help.
Jiseok looked at Hyeongjun before pressing on the call button. He was worried that he was bothering Gunil. Luckily, he seemed to be wide awake.
"Hyung..? Do you know if it's possible for two guys to... Like..? Each other?" Jiseok asked, his voice was full of hesitation while saying that. Gunil didn't answer for a couple of seconds, he was rather surprised by such a question; it was usually rather common knowledge that one gender could like their own.
"So gay people?" He bluntly asked, not really realising how this knowledge could change one's perspective on life. Jiseok gasped loudly, Hyeongjun wasn't paying attention, so he was worried when hearing that. But was reassured once the older boy continued talking to him.
"And how do you get a diagnosis for gayness?" Jiseok asked in all seriousness, Gunil sighed, his eye roll could probably be heard over the phone call.
"You don't get a diagnosis, you're just born like that, you know? So like, if you like a guy, then you're gay, congrats" Gunil could've gone and explained the different sexualities, but it would definitely be too much for him to understand.
He then ended the call and looked at Hyeongjun for a couple of seconds. He blinked multiple times while comprehending what just happened. The one thing he knew, and was almost sure about in his life- Jiseok's of course, was his identity. But he now realised that he was completely wrong.
"I think we're gay Jiseok" Hyeongjun spoke up after some silence. Jiseok nodded, based on what Gunil explained, it did seem pretty accurate.
"So we'd be boyfriends?" Jiseok asked, he understood heterosexual love. So, using common sense, he came to that conclusion.
"Yeah, I think" Hyeongjun shyly said, nodded repeatedly. Jiseok joined in his nodding before they looked at each other to stop.
"Should we be boyfriends?" Jiseok asked after mustering up the courage to ask Hyeongjun that. The latter nodded, a small smile forming.
"Great!" Jiseok said before quickly giving his (now) boyfriend a peck on the forehead. He then turned off his phone and the lamp, as after all, it was a late night conversation. But it would be one they would remember forever.
