( Still Sumire's POV: )

After arriving at the venue, Sarada and Boruto left their horses in their stalls and returned to my place to start preparing for the competition. From what I could tell, there weren't that many things to do, but they still needed someone else's help. The competition itself was supposed to take place in about two hours, which didn't stop people from arriving early to get a good spot. Honestly, I didn't do much. Sarada gave me a list of things to prepare, and I was supposed to make sure everything was ready on time. The first category of the competition was barrel avoidance, so Boruto and Sarada struggled to arrange them evenly spaced - a lot of laughter in the process, since everything had to be perfectly prepared, according to her. Of course, it didn't take long for the two of them to start arguing with each other over the smallest details. I, on the other hand, was sitting on the railing between the stands and the arena, holding a piece of paper from my friend.

- I'm telling you! Move that barrel to the left!

- Why? It's standing straight.

- No, it's not!

I laughed under my breath. They looked like they were having a good time despite their bickering, I guess they didn't need me.

I jumped off the railing and went towards the horse boxes. On the other side, there were many people waiting for the competition to start. Once again, I sat on the railing, watching my friends from a distance. I like peace and quiet, especially when I can observe my surroundings. It gives me a lot of joy, but unfortunately I wasn't allowed to enjoy the peace for too long. I noticed that Mr. Lucas was heading my way. God, please, not him...

- Hey, Sumire-san! What are ya doin here? - the boy asked, sitting too close next to me.

- Emm, I'm helping my friends in preparation for the competition. What about you? - I answered, hoping this guy will go away.

- Really? Well, my father told you I was competing, right? I hope you'll see me perform - Lucas said, smiling ominously.

I can't stand it when he does that, what does he think? That he's going to impress me like this? Never in my life. He's not my type at all, he's arrogant, mean and on top of that he thinks he's superior to everyone. He thinks that since he has a rich father, everyone will kiss his feet or treat him like someone special. People like that really get on my nerves and the worst thing is that Lucas is in love with me. I don't understand why he chose me out of all the beautiful girls in our town but I can't do anything about it. My situation means that in the worst case I'll have to become his wife and serve him for the rest of my life. Because of this, Lucas thinks I belong to him and takes too many liberties when talking to me. Oh, in all the excitement I didn't notice he did it again. Didn't anyone teach him not to get in someone's personal space? I felt his hand on my chin. As I looked at him in disgust, I realized that Lucas' face was way too close to mine. I panicked. I felt my face go pale, my breathing quicken - but I couldn't move, I was rooted to the spot.

- You said you're helping them, why you're alone then? Having a break huh? Maybe you have a short while, You should spend it with me.

- E-Excuse me? - I gasped in shock.

- You heared what I said. Such a pretty girl, alone here... it would be a waste of time~

Lucas brought his face even closer, making me on the verge of a panic attack. What did he mean by "waste of time?" Oh God, someone respond!

- Today's my lucky day, how about-

Suddenly I heard a gunshot. Lucas jumped back in fear, pulling his face away from mine. We were both scared as hell, who was shooting?! Completely terrified, I looked in the direction from which I heard the gunshot, praying in my heart that I wouldn't be shot. To my surprise, before my eyes stood no bandit at all, but a cowboy. It took me a moment to finally get a closer look at him. I couldn't see his face through the hat tilted down over his eyes, but the rest of it was breathtaking to me. The horse he was riding was huge, I'm serious - I've never seen a bigger horse in my life. The cowboy riding him wasn't any smaller, they both looked like they were the perfect height match. The man in the hat looked muscular, with large hands compared to his revolver. In the meantime, I realized that I had been looking at him for too long, and I was embarrassed. I wanted to say something, but I was interrupted by Lucas - who was obviously furious with the cowboy.
