Goruo and Itto had been married for two years and Gorou now lived on Narukami. The resistance had no need to still be at full capacity so it was now a small group of volunteers for general disputes and occasionally they removed hilichurls so Kokomi encourage Gorou to step back in his duties he did training sessions for new recruits which would only be a few weeks out of the year. Kojou Sara had offered him a job in the tenryou commision but it felt wrong for him to take it and he was already in there enough picking Itto up. They didn't struggle they were well off but Gorou was finding the monotony of being home all the time as a drag he still wrote for That's Life but less often. He had to admit he didn't just write the responses for money for Watasumi, that is what it started as but he did find it an escape from the paranoia it was easy to forget the struggles of war when he would read about the problems people had outside of war.
Gorou was dropping off the latest batch of letters off at yae publishing house he was hoping that witch of a women wouldn't be there and thank god she wasn't but it was arguably worse for him. Hirayama approaches him " oh Gorou thank you for these letters. Guuji Yae isn't here but she wanted to talk to you urgently if you could please go talk to her as soon as you can preferably today or tomorrow she was really desperate "
I didn't even get the chance to talk as he rambled on and I started to worry "yeah I can.... I'll go after this " I smiled awkwardly as I thought was this just to tease me, was it something about Kokomi or what it is most likely about was the fact I wasn't responding to as much letters as I use to or how many they wanted me to write.
After the long journey I was approaching the entrance of the shrine and Yae Miko was walking around the shrine with her ears against her head and she looked annoyed. As I approached she noticed me and fixed her self and her sly smirk returned to view as she walked over " oh if it isn't our prolific writer Ms Hina " she snickered
"It's gener- Gorou, it's Gorou" I looked up at her and even I could tell currently she was trying so hard to act normal there was something wrong and I didn't know if I wanted to know what it was
"Well Gorou you and the oni have been married for 3 years? I don't know and it doesn't matter but you two are happy right?" She smirked and started to walk around me " you seem like a suitable roll model and the oni is entertaining to kids"
"Yeah?" I was confused on where this was going and didn't know if I wanted to know we're this was going
" Well you haven't been writing often since you 'retired' and from what I'm heard you are also have a lot of free time of your hands or well paws. Let me get to the point you need something to do you need something to encourage your writing, you may deny it but you respond to these letters to escape so you need something to escape so, also having a money leech would encourage you to write more response to take care of the thing" she clapped her hands and one of the shrine maidens came over holding a wrapped up bundle, she tried to hand it to Yae Miko and she awkwardly took it
"Some adventures found this yokai child and no one seems to know who it belongs to and he was placed in my temporary care and I can't do it " she looked around and approached me " I can't do this, I can do a lot of things but children no and since he's a yokai they expect me to do it but I really can't and this thing made me think of you and that oni of yours "
She pulled the blanket off of the boy. He seemed to be a kind of dog with white hair "You were the first puppy I thought off and well he has white hair like the oni so it is a match made in celestia "she handed me the child
"I ... You don't just spring this on someone, are you sure he doesn't have a family, how old is he, I can't raise a kid do you think Itto could raise a child no no he can not, do you have a back up for if I say no or is it a you don't take him he will end up alone kind of thing " before I could ask more questions Yae inturpreted me
" He definitely has no family, 2 or 3, I have been calling it well it and you don't have too, just take the kid for a few days if you get along with it you can talk about adopting it but he has been here a week I can't deal with a toddler anymore you are currently just a babysitter so bring him home to the oni "
"It's Itto not oni "
"Bring him home to *Itto* and babysit him for a few days even if you don't want to keep him and he is put up for adoption it could open your mind to the wonderful world of kids" you could hear the sarcasm in her last words even if you were all the way in ritou
"I'll babysit him for a few days because you actually seem like your struggling, you haven't made fun off me or commented on my tail yet " I looked at the child in my arms as he snored. Itto is going to either love me or kill me when I get home.
When I was approaching my house the child started to wake up " hey there what's your name " I held him out so I could look at him " huh woah hehehe" he kicked his legs and pointed at my ears " me " he pulled his ears down and giggled I found myself smiling " yeah like you " I wiggled my ears and he squealed more
"So do you have a name?" He turned away " so you really don't have a name huh... I feel like it's not right to give you a name if we are just taking care of you for a few days "
"You seem old enough can you walk " I gently let him down and continue to loosely hold him to see if he could stand and he seemed to have enough support so I let him go and he waddled in front of me. I picked up my pace since he doesn't actually know where we were going. He got down on his knees and started walking like a dog wagging his tail "I did that as a kid " I mumbled as I got on my hunkers next to him
"You did what as kid " Itto kneeled down next to me " huh who's this little guy and what's his name he looks like you doggy general" the child approached Itto and stood up and touched his horns and Itto picked him up " hey there little guy " he smiled
"He doesn't have a name, he was found abandoned and was given to Yae Miko temporarily and she can't deal with him so she asked me to take him for a few days is that okay " Itto was playing with the child holding him up and tossed him up and down as he laughed
"Of course he is such a cool little dude" he was laughing and the two were having fun " he's like a puppy I'm gonna call him puppy general " I laughed as he stood up and played with the child " She wanted us to take him "
"We are taking him ?" He turned to me " no I mean like we adopt him so we keep him forever" Itto stopped and looked at me " wait, that's an option "
"We can talk about that some other time we should bring him inside " I picked up the kid and started walking inside" we can't keep calling him kid or well him but it feels wrong for us to choose the name if we aren't going to take him " I held him out as he giggled
"Well why don't we keep him he looks just like you and I have had a blast with this little guy " Itto ruffled the child's hair
"Raising a child isn't just playing with them you care for them, you nurture them, discipline them and it isn't just till he is an adult we will be his parent for the rest of his little life it isn't just something you decide all willy nilly " we walked into the house and I sat him on the couch
