My side feels like it's on fire. So does my jaw.

I try to sit up but fall back down on a leather surface.

"Y/N!" A hand touches my arm, but my vision is blurry.

I groan, trying to sit up again. This time, the hand helps me up.

"Thank goodness you're awake." Someone envelops me in a hug. It's warm and strong.

My vision starts to clear up as the man pulls back. "What happened," I whisper. Even as I ask, the night begins to come back to me. Bambam luring me out, which I foolishly fell for. Him trying to kill me, then me barely getting away.

MIngyu is peering at me, worry in every wrinkle of his face. "I'm not sure. You mentioned Bambam and then passed out."

I vaguely recognize that I'm lying in the back of Mingyu's car. It's still parked at the building where the party was hosted, and Mingyu sits just outside of the vehicle.

"I put a bandaid on your chin. Are you hurt anywhere else? Do you have a headache? I think I have some pain medicine." Mingyu speaks softly as he starts to rummage through a bag lying in the back of the car.

"I'm mostly okay. He kicked my side and my jaw. They'll bruise, but it's okay."

"It's not okay," Mingyu mutters. His hand forms a fist. "Once I find Bambam, I'll kill him."

"I'm sorry for going off," I say, resting my head against the headrest. "I don't have a bad headache, but if you find the medicine, I'll take some." My fingers flit over my bruising side. Just the tiny touch makes me flinch in pain.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." Mingyu pulled out a bottle from the bag. That bastard tricked you. I swear, once I fin—" His hand is shaking, rattling the capsules inside the bottle. "I'm sorry," he huffs. I can't believe he would try something like that."

"What did you do to make him hate you so much?"

Mingyu doesn't look me in the face as he hands me the medication. "It doesn't matter. He's insane for still being upset about it." Mingyu speaks through gritted teeth. "So upset that he would hurt you." For a second, Mingyu's gaze softens. "Are you sure you're okay? No offense, but you don't look so hot."

"Truly, I'm fine. Trust me, this isn't the worst pain I've ever been in," I force out a laugh and hope Mingyu doesn't notice my body rack with pain as the laugh punches my side. "Plus, I think Bambam had it worse off."

"Oh?"

"I'm pretty sure I broke his hand. I sliced his face up, too. I'm not sure where it hit, though."

Slowly, a smile spreads across Mingyu's face. It's the widest smile I've ever seen from him. Amusement dances in his eyes. "That's the most attractive thing you've ever done," He whispers, starting to learn forward.

I'm frozen again, and I can't tell if it's from my head wound or from the shock of what Mingyu just said. This feels like a dream. I'm half convinced I'll wake up to reveal something entirely different.

Mingyu's hand reaches forward, swiping up strands of my hair that fell out of place. Gingerly, he tucks them back behind my ear. "But I'm still going to find him." He pulls back, smile still dancing on his face.

Disappointment and giddiness flush my face. Being cared for like this—so gently—isn't something I'm familiar with. But I selfishly wish he would get closer to me. That our lips would meet.

"Oh, right. You need water." Mingyu stands to rummage through the front seat.

As he does that, I pat my pockets, searching for my knife. I'll need to clean Bambam's blood off of it.
