(Cassandra)
I felt a gentle shake on my shoulder that awakened me. I opened my eyes to see Maze, on my bedside holding the paper I had sent her.
"I know you were sleeping, but I just had to tell you this is sooo good. Honestly this is the best speech i've read from you, and when I tell you your speeches are NEVER good I mean-"
"Enough, I get it" i tell her,
"But is it good enough, good enough to convince a town of people who's trust is dwindling that we can and will fix their problem?"
"I fixed it up, read over it, trust me it's good. The people will like you" she reassured me, left the paper in my hands and bounced out.
I read over the speech, she added some weird metaphors but it addressed our current problems, hopefully the people would understand.
I found myself going from outfit to outfit, clothes started to pile up on my floor and in the hands of guards I had asked to hold some I couldn't decide on. I needed to look presentable, approachable, likable to the people.
My approval had fallen as our supply fell, and some offhand rebels had tried to eliminate me as well, but today would change that. It'd been a few years since they saw me, and I was going to change what they thought of me before anything else happened.
It took over 3 hours to find a outfit. I finally chose a long red silk dress with black emrboided roses, with a cat symbol near the chest, the Cullens symbol. I had put on the silk red gloves as well, and had brushed through my hair making sure not a bit of it was out of place.
I practiced my smile in my rooms small waterfall. I tried to copy my brothers, Maze's even but their toothy smiles looked unnatural to me. I turned to the guards for their approval upon it, one ended up begging for his life in fear of the face I had made. I decided a closed mouth smile was a better option for me.
I ran through the speech a few times, then made my way through the halls, to the gates door.
"Carriage!" Yelled one of the guards, I heard the horses and wheels start.
"No, today we shall walk. I'm in this with the people the carriage will only make me seem more disconnected" i said, waving away the carriage.
A group of guards lead the way around the castle to the town. It had been some time since id seen the place.
The town used to be full of the people, events, sounds, but ever since the supply drop in blood, the people save up all the energy they can. I made my way through the roads, as I walked I saw heads peek through their doors. Some came out and followed, others locked their doors. Kids were curious, every step through a different section i heard "The queen!" "Shes here!" "i want that dress!", I was glad there was at least one group or people who still enjoyed me.
I made my way through to the middle of town, and took my place on the podium. I could see the look on the peoples faces, mixed emotions all around but none of happiness besides those of the kids.
I gave the speech to the best of my ability. From the peoples reactions and applauds I could tell they weren't convinced. They had faces of discontent, many left halfway through the speech. I saw a glimpse of happiness in some eyes as I told them I would provide blood from the royal supply in order to help relieve the effects our recent drought has caused. But overall, i could see they were still displeased.
