"-and no touching" Cassian warned for the fifth time as I waited patiently.
"I won't I promise" I crossed the space above my heart and the two of them shared a look before jackets came off, tops soon following, and my cheeks tinted a healthy shade of red. "you didn't have to strip"
"how else are we going to make the pretty girl blush" Cass grinned and I rose an eyebrow, dragging my eyes back to Azriel to find him already watching me, something glittering in his eyes. It was an effort to keep my gaze trained on his face.
"Problem Alex?" his voice was laced with humour, and I rubbed the space in between my eyebrows, hoping to distract them from whatever the hell was going on with me.
They turned and my sole attention was quickly refocused on their anatomy, the wings. Toned backs covered in muscle after carrying the weight of those wings flexed with each movement and there was something in the back of my mind that begged to reach out and touch.
I stepped closer, crouching slightly as I studied the intricate membrane of Azriel's wings, the shining scars that ran across them. They fluttered and whisps of shadows moved from under my hair to my arms, curling around them patiently.
"Gods they're..." I struggled to put it into words "magnificent"
A shudder ran through Azriel as the words fanned across soft flesh, wings flaring as the shadows around his feet travelled up his back, as if to get closer to the human studying him.
Touch they whispered to him Pretty, Touch
But the Shadowsinger headed them no mind, staying in place as the pretty little thing behind him took her time. Practically feeling each trace of her green eyes burning into his skin.
It was only when Cassian began to complain about the lack of attention that she moved to stand behind him, looking at his wings with equal fascination.
"no two set of wings are the same" he educated and I nodded to myself before he spread his wings wide, to full length and the power, the authority they held almost made me tremble.
"Feyre said something about wingspan? That it helped males to distinguish leaders among the camps?" from the laughter that followed my question, I gathered I had been wrongly informed. Or played by my friend.
"you want to know about wingspan little warrior?" Cassian's grin gleamed and Azriel smirked, tilting his head as his eyes trailed down me. Goosebumps appeared across me and I inched back ever so slightly under their gazes.
"I have a feeling it's better not to ask" I murmured, wishing I had some sort of defence against their almost challenging eyes. "thank you for allowing me to um look"
"anytime" Azriel's words made Cas look at him, but the shadowmaster kept his attention on me. "we'll see you at dinner?"
I dipped my head in agreement, giving them one last look before I left the room.
Only once I had shut the door to my own room did I lean my head against the wood with a sigh. Fuck.
