"Are you sure this is a good idea? I don't know the first thing about etiquette" I rambled behind Feyre, Mor and Amren as they roamed through a dress store.
"It'll be fun" Mor grinned "plus we get to talk shit about all the High Lords"
"Which is exactly why I'm glad I'm not attending"
My gaze snapped to Amren.
"you're not going?"
She smirked.
"the last time I attended a ball, I may have frightened a few people. I doubt my appearance will set anyone at ease" she explained much to my disappointment. She touched my shoulder comfortingly "relax girl, with any luck you might just do the same"
"are humans even invited?"
"the court was invited, you are apart of our court, so therefore technically" Feyre said and I stared at her.
I wondered if perhaps Feyre had forgotten that some courts still kept human slaves. People that had never known anything except living under the fae as servants.
I decided then and there that I wasn't leaving my daggers. Not a chance in hell.
Soon enough, I found myself shoved into a changing room, dressed pilled up in the corner.
I had convinced the girls to let me try on my dressed inside the changing room, not quite ready to show off my scars. Although seeing as I would be attending the ball, it would be inevitable. But this conversation didn't need to happen here.
I must've tried on at least 30 dressed and I was ready to go. Accepting that I wasn't meant for the female image. I hadn't worn a dress since I was a child, but looking at myself now, it was almost unreal.
I tried on a beautiful grey blue tulle dress embroidered with silver leaves, sleeves that swayed just above my elbows. It didn't hide the lightening pattern that travelled down my left arm, but it didn't bother me.
"I haven't heard you stop complaining all day, so you must've found the dress" Mor teased, and I smiled at myself in the mirror, pink tinting my cheeks.
"yeah I think I have" I agreed, twirling softly, "gods this feels so strange"
"I wish you'd come out and show us" Feyre sighed, and it sat on my heart.
"and save all the suspense of you seeing me all dolled up? Never"
