The night of the ball had fast approached, and nerves fluttered through me.
I had never been to an event like this, and I knew I was gonna fuck it up.
Hands ran through my curls, and I sighed, looking at Nuala through the mirror as she did my hair.
"You mustn't be nervous Lady Greene" she soothed "if in doubt, just stay quiet"
"yeah. I just don't think that sort of life is for me"
"I wouldn't be so sure" Cerridwen assured as she returned to the room with my dress "dressed in this I think you'll fit right in"
I smiled at the sight of my dress. The silver embroidery shimmering in the light.
"it is beautiful" I agreed softly.
"I'm sure the Shadowsinger will find it more than appealing" Nuala's lips teased into a smirk as I blushed, struggling not to duck my head as she fixed my hair.
"isn't it a rule to wear the colours of the male you court?" Cerridwen asked Nuala who nodded in confirmation.
"perhaps we can add something" she agreed, studying me "would you like that?"
"I am at your mercy" I joked, something fluttering in my chest at the idea.
My fingers touched the delicate chain resting low on my neck, a single teardrop sapphire falling in the middle, matching earrings and gems sat in my hair. They had made my nails the same colour. My make up was light, mascara and some glitter with a rose lipstick.
But the dress was the true masterpiece. The tulle and embroidery made me feel like royalty and I almost forgot my worries about this evening. My shoes were silver, low heels because god forbid I had to dance in anything higher. I had also insisted on keeping my daggers on under the skirt.
Nuala had done my hair up in a fancy bun that sat high on the back of my head, curling ringlets around my fringe and the back of my neck.
"I do not know what to say" I breathed, staring at myself in the mirror as the two wraith's giggled.
"it's our pleasure. Now go and have fun" the shooed me from the room and I noted how quiet it was.
A low whistle sounded as I entered the living room, Mor rising to her feet dressed in a beautiful red dress that really showed off her assets. Blonde hair curled around her shoulders with dark painted red lips.
"damn Al, you sure you don't swing both ways?" she grinned and I shook my head with a smile.
"you look amazing Mor, truly"
"thanks doll" she winked, offering me her arm "let's go impress the boys"
