(Eleanor's POV)

I was running, I don't know from what or who but it *seemed* far away, but it was closer than I thought. When I thought I was safe I turned around just to make sure, I didn't see anything, but as soon as I breathed out I felt cold hands meet my neck, I tried fighting back but couldn't, my body felt weak and before I knew it I went limp. I could hear someone whisper to me "It's okay El.. It's all okay.."

I woke up in a warm bed, with soft wool covering me. I was in Heaven. I heard the birds chirp from outside, and the sweet smell of pancakes filled my nose. I opened my eyes to see what Heaven looked like, but all I saw was an old room. I got up, still groggy as I remembered what happened the night before. I walked out of the room, finding myself in a 'grandma' like house. As I made it to the kitchen I saw an old lady flipping a fresh, fluffy pancake. "That's what  I was smelling." I thought to myself as I built up the bravery to speak...

"Hello? Uhm.. Where am I?" I asked, as the lady looked at me.

"Oh hello dear, I found you on my way to the markets this morning, I saw you were hurt so I got you some bandages." She said pointing to a brown paper bag on the mahogany table, which I walked over to. "Thank you.. Uhm.." I didn't know her name but she seemed to know what I was trying to say, "Eva Mae, and you dear?" I looked at her for a minute. I knew I heard her name before, but something in my gut told me not to ask. "Eleanor."

"It's nice to meet you Eleanor. Now sit down, I'm sure you're hungry." *She said setting a plate of pancakes in front of me, I was hungry. I ate a few bites, trying not to scarf them down, she set a glass of milk by my plate before sitting down to eat herself.

"Thank you so much." I said in between bites of delicious pancake.
"It's no problem dear." She replied, her voice sounding sickly sweet.

I heard a bang while eating, and looked at a door that I assumed lead to a basement. "What was that??" I questioned glancing at Eva Mae. "Oh those darn pipes, they're so noisy." She said like she was hiding something, but she hid it with a sweet smile.

After Breakfast.

"Thank you so much, is there anything I can do in return ?" I asked Eva Mae as I helped her clean the table up, scrubbing a glass plate with remains of syrup on it.

"Oh, you don't have to but if you want you could help with the garden!" She smiled at me sweetly, I didn't think she could do anything wrong.

"I'd be glad to help!!" I smiled back as I followed her outside to some flower beds.

After some time of gardening, watering, and trying to repair the stem of some weird flower I've never seen before, I looked at the house, right next to the bed I was working with I saw a window to the basement, a boy that looked my age stared back at me. I jumped a bit as he disappeared into the darkness. Was Eva Mae not as innocent as I thought?
