I clutched my map tighter, the wind whipping my hair around my face. New York was amazing, a chaotic symphony of honking cabs and overflowing trash cans that somehow felt strangely beautiful. I rounded a corner, bumping into someone and muttering an apology.
"No worries!" A friendly voice chirped. I looked up, met a pair of bright blue eyes, and then...well, I didn't recognize her. She had a bright smile and wore a comfy-looking sweatshirt, but you couldn't place her. "Hey, you seem a little lost. Tourists usually have that look," she teased.
I laughed, a little sheepish. "Yeah, maybe a little. This map isn't exactly helping much."
She peered at the crumpled paper. "Oh, this one's outdated. Here, let me show you on mine." She pulled out her phone, and you spent the next few minutes chatting as she navigated you in the right direction. "My name is Y/n by the way," I say "Well hi Y/n, I'm Renee" the stranger replies, "That is such a pretty name" you say, a warm smile brushes over her face.
As you walked, people kept stopping Renee, a friendly cab driver, a group of teenagers, and even a fancy-looking woman with a poodle. Each time, they'd greet her excitedly, and Renee would chat with them for a moment before waving goodbye.
It finally clicked halfway through your walk. You stopped a slow realisation spreading across your face. "Wait a minute...are you...?"
Renee's smile widened. "Maybe? Depends who you're thinking of."
"Renee Rapp?" you blurted, then flushed red. "Oh my gosh, I am such a fan! Your new album is incredible, by the way, 'Williow' is my jam."
Renee laughed, a delightful sound that seemed to come from her belly. "Thanks so much! That means a lot, coming from someone who has to navigate with a paper map." She winked. The rest of the walk was filled with you excitedly asking questions about her music, and Renee patiently answering them all.
By the time you reached your destination, you were both starving. You grabbed some pizza, found a park bench, and devoured it while Renee told you more about her life. She spoke openly about the pressure of fame, the difficulties of being in the public eye, but also the incredible joy of creating music and connecting with fans.
"Wow," you breathed, touched by her honesty. "That's a lot. Thank you for sharing all that with me."
Renee smiled. "Hey, you were lost, remember? The least I could do was offer some directions, metaphorical and literal." A playful glint entered her eyes. "Besides, you charmed the socks off me with that whole map situation. How about you come to crash at my place for a bit? We can watch a movie and avoid the tourist crowds."
Your jaw dropped. Spend time with Renee Rapp, just hanging out? "Are you serious? I wouldn't want to intrude..."
Waving your concerns away, Renee insisted. "Nonsense! Besides, I could use some company that doesn't involve record deals or autograph requests."
You grinned, unable to resist. "Alright, you convinced me. Movie marathon it is!"
The rest of the afternoon was a blur of laughter, bad movie quotes, and surprisingly deep conversations. You learned that beneath the pop star exterior, Renee was just a normal person who loved cheesy romance and deep philosophical discussions. As the credits rolled on the third movie, you both sighed contentedly.
"What movie should we do next Y/n?" she says without losing eye contact with you, I just smile and then one movie pops into your head, "OMG, Purple Hearts," I say with such excitement. The biggest grin appears on her face and she finds it on her TV.
It was about 10:30 in the evening, Renee looked over at me, and she saw that I was slowly falling asleep, my head kept on bopping because I wanted to stay awake, but I was so tired. She decided to lay on my lap, and with that movement, I looked down at her and saw the content that she had for the movie. I just smiled and I started to play with her hair, she looked up at me with the most heartwarming smile ever.
After the movie she turned the TV off and sat up, I looked over and noticed a guitar and she followed my gaze to it. "Do you want to have a go?" she asked, I looked at her and nodded, Renee got up grabbed it and handed it to me, her hands were so soft, I had to find the cords that I wanted to play. After finding them I started to play the song 'Elliott's Song' By Dominic Fike and Zendaya, Renee just watched me as I played the notes, this moment went on forever but it felt so good.
Renee went into her room and grabbed me an oversized shirt and some shorts, I was a bit confused on why but then I saw the time and then I figured it out. "Here you are," she said, I thanked her and went to grab some water, "I can stay on the couch if that works better for you," I said. She gave me a shocked look, "No Y/n, I've slept on that and my body was so sore afterwards, I don't mind if you sleep in the bed with me" I looked at her and she gave me a comfortable smile, so I agreed.
"I have tomorrow off just like today so if you want to do something together I would love that," Renee says from the bathroom, but then she hears my soft snores from her room, she walks in and sees me completely out on her bed, she turned off the lights and kissed me on the forehead, "Night Y/n".
