"There you are. I was thinking you are not going to come today" I glared at my secretary for her sarcasm. "I hope you didn't forget this is your own success party" she chuckled when I scowled at her. "Shut up before I fire you" she erupted in to full blown laugh listening to my words. "Your family is waiting for you inside"

"And I made all the preparations as well" Kate Williams is not only my assistant but my friend as well. She has been with me since I started my company. Just in the two years of hard work we received emerging business award. This is the celebration of our success.

"Mom" I was enveloped in her arms as soon as she saw me. "I am so proud of you hon" I grinned at my dad who was waiting for his turn. "You did it princess"

"Congratulations" My brother Sean and his wife Hailey congratulated me. "We are all so proud and happy for you. My sis is really a gem" I couldn't wipe out the smile on my face whole day. "Where is Harper?" I asked Hailey when I didn't see her. "She is playing with kids over there" before I can look for her someone else interrupted me.

"Hi Ms. Kingston" I looked up to see Mr. Conant and his wife. "Congratulations on your award" his wife said with a smile. "Thank you so much" they started talking with my parents and I decided to take my leave from there.

I wanted to see my niece who I haven't met for about three months due to my work. I have been too caught up with work and award ceremony that I didn't get chance to meet my family. I smiled when I saw she was facing back to me and she was playing with little kids in the party. I walked slowly to her without making noise.

"Boo" she shrieked making me laugh at her. "Hi champ" when she realized it was me she jumped in to my arms quickly making me lose my balance. I was bending in front of her in heels so it didn't help me at all. I stumbled back and fell on the person behind me. I closed my eyes and tightened my arms around Harper just to avoid her getting hurt.

I waited for the impact but it didn't come. Instead I felt two arms around my waist holding me from falling. I opened one eye and took a look at the person. My eyes widened at what I saw. He is stunning. He is wearing a dark blue suit which fit him perfectly and his dark brown hair is combed and swiped to side neatly. He has chiseled jaw with most beautiful grey eyes which were glaring at me.

Wait glaring?

I came back to earth when Harper wriggled in my arms. I quickly got up and placed Harper on the ground. She ran away to her friends who were eating candy. I looked at her make sure she is not out of the sight before turning towards the man. "I am s-"

"You should look where you are going" his voice is as beautiful as his face. "Excuse me?" he frowned at me. "You could have hurt the kid" I got angry at his words. Is he calling me irresponsible? How would I know she will react like that? Besides I just missed my footing which was pure un luck.

I took a deep breath as I didn't want to fight a guest in my own party. "I don't know who you are but I don't need your opinion so enjoy the party and leave as soon as you can" I stormed off from there angrily. That is best I could control myself of.

"Lyra I need yo-" Kate stopped when she saw my scowl. "What happened?" I shook my head. "Nothing. What were you saying" she told me I am needed to make a speech and do a toast. I smoothened my blonde curls and the dress before walking on to the stage.

I thanked everyone for coming and hoped to achieve much more success with our team. After few more thanking and hugs party came to an end.

"Mom I am not hungry" I whined when she started filling my plate with so many dishes. "Have you seen yourself? You lost so much weight" I looked at dad hopefully but he shook his head. "Don't drag me in to this" I pouted and looked down at the plate. "Eat Lyra. Mom specially made apple pie and cake for you" Hailey said bringing a plate of red velvet cake. "Eat it sis, she won't stop until you finish it"

"Are you planning to open your next store?" I took a bite of cake before Sean stole a bite. "It will take time dad. We are preparing to launch new winter wear for this season and this will take some time" even though my parents are billionaires and they have their own company I decided to pursue my interest.

Two years back I started my company Elite Empire which is a fashion store. I successfully managed to open four branches throughout Europe. I know it is not big but I am getting there. "I am going to Paris for a fashion show next week. Post that I will announce our new collection"

"We will be the first to buy those" Hailey gushed about the last outfits she purchased. "I even made limited edition for our Harper" we were also bust talking and laughing for whole day. I was feeling too sleepy with fatigue and all the food I ate so I decided to sleep in my room.

"So Mr. Aaron Conant, can we know the main reason for this sudden press conference?"

I stopped walking and looked at the screen. I saw the guy from the party last night. So he is the son of Sally and Richard Conant.

"I heard lot of rumors about my marriage so I decided to give clarity to all of you and introduce my girlfriend"

"Wait not girlfriend... my fiancée"

Wait, so this guy has a fiancée. I didn't know him but I got curious seeing the news so I decided to listen to him.

"My fiancée name is Lyra Kingston. We are getting married next month"

I heard the sound of glass shattering behind me and I looked back to see my parents stood there shocked. I am sure my expression matched theirs as well.

I didn't know I was engaged to Aaron Conant...
