The pattern never changed. Why? Maybe because I needed the finances or maybe I was just happy with it. Go to the Coffee House, work from 8 to 5 and then take a 2 hour rest, resume with The Bar then I dance till I feel numb and finally, I repeat the cycle.

I've always loved my monotonous lifestyle, mainly because I have experienced danger, real danger and I don't like the feeling that comes with it. I hate it. I expect a few more years of peace before the worst happens. And when it does happen, I will be completely prepared for it.

Staring at my alarm clock, I can already picture how the day unfolds. After my morning routine, I quickly tidy up the room before going to the kitchen and making myself a cup of coffee and toast. I don't think I can ever do without coffee. It's like my kind of cancer stick.

I wolfed down the food before rushing out of the house locking the door. I reach the bus stop to find a bus about to leave and I waved crazily then jumped inside, making the passengers look at me weirdly but I don't care.

Finally reaching the cafe, I find out that I'm about 2 minutes late but it doesn't matter. Carl wouldn't get angry because of two minutes.

"Good morning Rick" I greet the pastry chef smiling

"Morning Bella, how was your night?" The man is absolutely cute, he has always had this teeny tiny crush on me.

"T'was fine and yours?" I reply already guessing his answer

"I dreamt of you" There it was, his mushy and sweet reply

"Good morning Helen" I greeted. Helen is a good saleswoman and a better communicator.

The only issue is that she can be a bit jealous, she thinks I am a slut because both Carl and Rick give me leeway. I have never bothered to correct her, so she continues to add more speculations to her theory.

Payne also helps with the cleaning, as the youngest among us, she is absolutely taken care of but right now she isn't here because she is still a college student.

The day began with customers flooding in for their daily dose of caffeine, mostly people on their way to work. I have to tell you though, mornings are usually rush hours. It is always a race against time, most people are almost late but they have to get caffeine into their system before work while some are just addicts that can't do without it.

Around noon, the rush reduces drastically and we have customers steadily coming in for dates, meetings and all sorts of socializing. Thankfully, we are situated at the center of the district so there is no shortage of customers.

Nearing the evening, most people are leaving by now but some few people come to get pastries and teas for their families. I watch boredly as people come and go, and count down the remaining seconds I spend here.

Immediately it is 5 O'clock, I grab my things and say goodbye to everyone. Carl stops me for a second and goes into the kitchen to bring out some of the remaining pastry. I smile and thank him before leaving.

Once I reach home, I refrigerate the pastry and go to take a shower, before taking a short nap. My alarm rings at exactly 8pm and I take another bathe then dress in joggers and a baggy sweater. I grab my bag that contains my purse, taser, pepper spray and keys before locking the door and flagging a taxi.
