He lowers his head. ,,Yes." he admits.
"Why did you really break up with me, Hayden?" I ask.
"Rachel threatened me that if I continued to be with you, she would take away my custody of Briar Rose." he answers my question. "She thinks I spend more time with you than with Briar Rose."
"Why was she at your house?"
"The night I broke up with you, I texted her saying that we were over and that she couldn't take away my custody because we had a deal."
"So she flew to you and the two of you had sex since the deal was sealed?" I wipe away my tears as he nods. "Hayden, you should have told me and we would have found a solution."
He shakes his head. ,,How? Would we have had a secret relationship?"
I shrug my shoulders. "Maybe if that meant I could still be with you."
We don't talk for a while, but then Hayden breaks the silence. "I know you're mad at me and I hurt you and I'm really, really sorry for that, Aleia." He swallows and wipes away the tear that has rolled down from his eye. "Just please let me be a part of my child's life."
"I would never tell you that you can't be a part of your son's life, Hayden." I say and take his hand in mine.
,,Son?" He smiles.
I nod, smiling. "Yes, it's going to be a boy."
"Thank you, Aleia." He squeezes my hand.
I smile and let go of his hand. Poppy jumps on the sofa next to me and puts her head on my stomach, she always does that and when she does that the baby moves in my stomach.
Smiling, I stroke her head and she closes her eyes.
I look from Poppy to him. "I have an appointment with the doctor today... would you like to come with me?" I ask.
He nods. ,,I would like to." He smiles.
"Okay... um, I'll change then." I try to hoist myself up, but Hayden quickly stands up and takes my hands and helps me stand up. "Thanks." I murmur.
I wanted to put on a dress but then I thought that the doctor would ask me to pull it up because of the ultrasound and Hayden would see me in panties, which I don't want - even though he has seen me in and out of panties many times - we are no longer together So I put on leggings and an oversized baby blue t-shirt.
Hayden is playing with Poppy and when he notices me he gets up from the floor and we walk to the hallway, he puts on his shoes and kneels down in front of me, which to be honest excites me a bit, even if he's just helping me put my shoes on.
,,Thanks."
He nods and holds out his open hand to me and I understand that he wants the car keys, I rummage through my pocket and place it in the palm of my hand.
We drive to the gynecologist in silence, where we sit down in the waiting room, a few women look at Hayden and whisper. Yes, Hayden is not an ugly man, on the contrary, he is a beautiful man and the fact that these women shamelessly look at him like they want to tear his clothes off makes me jealous and angry even though we are no longer together.
I'm looking at the ultrasound as the baby is really active today, my eyes go to Hayden who is looking at the small screen with tears in his eyes. I take his hand and squeeze it, then he looks away from the small screen at me and smiles.
He leans down a little and places a kiss on my forehead, warming my chest.
Before we went home, I was craving some chocolate ice cream, so Hayden went to the supermarket and even though it was a bit strange and still kind of nice, we both went in and bought more than just chocolate ice cream.
I'm sitting on my porch with my chocolate ice cream and reading the sixth chapter of my new book. I didn't like it that much, so I changed it completely and I'm happy with it.
,,Hello Darling." says Mom, climbing the stairs and sitting down on the rocking chair next to me. I hand her the chocolate sundae, but she shakes her head. ,,What are you doing?"
