I can tell you many things but i can't tell you this is the life i envisioned for myself growing up as a little girl. I had a set load of dreams yet they all seemed to wither away once i entered the "adulthood" phrase of life. My parents could be called what you'd say "a picture perfect family" but in reality they are everything but that. They nurtured me in ways which are suitable for them, ways they renounce as respectful, in the way i'd find a successful and rich who will fall in "love" with me, and let me tell you, it did work. Everything revolves around my parents, anything to make them happy, anything to make them seem perfect in society. But am i getting fucking tired of this.

"Cindy, you know these events are going to keep happening if you don't just put on your big girl pants and pick a husband already." My best friend, Indiana spoke, facing the mirror in the bathroom, as she tried to perfect her wing eyeliner. We've been the closest of friends since we 8, we ended up going to the same private schools and did everything together since her parents moved across us. Her parents are equally rich as mine are, yet they are very much the opposite of mine when it comes to their parenting skills. Everyone around me just seems to be worshipping my parents feet, everyone but Indiana, which makes me even more grateful for having her in my life.

"I'd choose when i find one i trust is not just marrying me to be apart of my father's company." I mumbled, rolling my eyes, as i walked out of the bathroom. I picked up the dress selected for me to wear this evening from my bed eying it with disgust before dropping it back onto the bed. I don't even know where to start in describing this dress but all i can say is that it isn't my style.

"We're going to be doing this till we're forty then." Indiana sighed as she exited the bathroom. "Mm, what do you think?" She grinned as she did a little twirl showing me her outfit. She wore a baby pink sleeveless silk satin dress that had thin straps crossed from the hem of her back to the top, which reached a little bit above her ankle that showcased her black toe lace up heels.

i shook my head in approval. "You look amazing Indie, as usual, that's how you always have men trailing behind you." She beamed then strutted over to my vanity full of makeup products, coating her lips with clear lipgloss she picked up. "I know, but you know i want."

"Zayn." We said in unison and laughed. "That's right, baby." Turning to face me, she  raised her eyebrows as she raked her eyes over me. "Are you going to attempt to pull the sick card again? why aren't you all dressed?"

"Pulling that card sounds tempting as it always does but we both know that it isn't going to work." I sighed. "It's going to be the same as always, men that all know my dad ask me for a dance, we talk, they tell me all their big plans for me and how good they are going to take care of me, which in all honesty is just plain bullshit, they can see there deceitfulness behind their eyes." I fell back on my bed, my hands sprawled on their sides

"True, but you never know! This could be your lucky da-" i cut her off. "That's what you've said since we turned 19. We're 23 now."

"Still, you never know." She said in a sing song tone, un clipping her wavy brown hair and using her hands to shake through them "Let's just get ready, go down, fake smiles for about half hour, then we steal one of your dad's fancy wines and get fucking drunk and stupid in the garden yeah?" I smiled at the suggestion and nodded. "Okay, fine." i gave in as she pulled me off the bed.

I glanced down at the event happening on the ground floor from the stair's balcony. Men dressed in black suites and woman wearing their best evening gowns. The live band orchestrating classical music as soft chattering and fake smiles filled the room decorated room. "Thank you." I forced a smile as i took a glass of champagne from the tray carried by trained waiters.

My eyes scanned the room searching for a suitable corner to hide my self for the night like i always did until i get dragged on the dance floor. Indiana had squealed and ran the opposite direction as soon as she spotted the guy she has had her eyes set on and had been trying to seduce since we turned 22, Zayn. While he on the other hand pretends to be unbothered by her presence. She was beautiful, any guy would love to have her so she didn't have to put much effort but that's what excited her the most about him, she loved the back and forth.
