The Prophecy of Darkness
When the world is at peace, and no one has fought
A new tribe will rise with the pain that they brought
And through anger and hatred, one shall burn and rage
And trap every dragon, like birds in a cage.
Thus heroes must rise again, once more to save their world
To avert the due destruction and kill the vines first curled.
The blood of evil will be spilled, dragons will rise from death
A darkness will fall over the land unless the eleven can save it.
One dragonet must make a sacrifice so that all can move on
From the darkness spreading, for the hope of a new dawn
They shall travel a path across the seas.
To seek help from those who live in peace.
When the light has lasted twenty years, again the heroes will rise.
And stand up to the darkness so all can survive.
Prologue: Six Years Ago
"It's happening! Tonight!" Nightseeker cried out as she tumbled into the moonlight. Her mother, Moonwatcher, was there, and her father, Qibli, too. Her other father Winter was away in the Ice Kingdom. Moonwatcher helped Nightseeker sit up, and Nightseeker tucked her SandWing tail barb safely away, the SandWing scales on her wings and tail rippling as she did so. Her half-sister, Frosteria, the IceWing- NightWing hybrid, was also in the Ice Kingdom, waiting for her egg to hatch, unfortunately under a dark sky- no NightWing powers. Tonight was the first full three moons since the Dragonets had hatched. It was also the night Nightseeker's egg was hatching. She was glad her dragonet wasn't growing up in her generation, where mind readers and future-seers were frowned on. Hopefully, the next generation would be kinder to her dragonet.
Nightseeker sat in the moonlight that shone on the Night Kingdom. She'd put her egg in the light so that her dragonet could receive the gifts of the moon. She had refused to waste the potential. Nightseeker hadn't gotten powers, but this dragonet could. After all, now that the NightWings had moved to the Night Kingdom-after they grew too big for the rainforest and had appointed a new queen, Queen Nebula- they could live up to their potential again. With some animus help from the next generation, the Night Kingdom had been rebuilt- there was a crack in the Animus Spell. Jerboa had said it with present-day animuses in mind- but now new animuses were hatching, and magic once more flourished on Pyrrhia, and Pantala. The two continents were linked together by the islands.
As Nightseeker observed, her dragonet burst out of the egg and forcefully catapulted herself up into the sky. Then she plummeted down again. Moonwatcher caught her and brought her to Nightseeker.
"She seems to love the stars- so much that when she hatched, she had to go fly with them." Nightseeker looked at her beautiful dragonet with her teardrop scales glimmering and put her nose to the dragonet's.
"I think I'm going to name you Stardancer. Are you ready to change the world, little one?"
Stardancer reached a talon up to the stars in reply.
And one of them moved.
