All the friends were gathered at Felix and Hyunjin's apartment, as they did every Tuesday and Thursday. The cozy living room, with its soft lighting and modern decor, was filled with the smell of pizza and freshly baked brownies. Empty wine bottles cluttered the coffee table, and bits of crust from the pizza boxes were scattered around. The faint hum of the city outside barely penetrated the warm, relaxed atmosphere inside.
"Seriously, I feel so bad about this whole situation. Imagine being in the shoes of the person being cheated on," Jisung says, his brow furrowed as he takes a slow sip from his glass of wine. The burgundy liquid swirled in his glass, reflecting the dim light of the room.
"Me too," Seungmin responds, his voice a little quieter, almost reflective. He pauses mid-bite, t he slice of pizza hovering near his mouth as if the weight of the conversation had suddenly dulled his appetite. "Our entire floor knows one of them is being cheated on. I have no idea how the betrayed person hasn't found out yet."
Felix, busy in the kitchen arranging the brownies he had just taken out of the oven, calls out over the clatter of plates, "The whole building knows! Jisung even renamed his Wi-Fi to 'Neighbor in apartment 143, your boyfriend is cheating on you.'"
Jisung, who had been laughing quietly, nearly chokes on his pizza as he hears his own name being mentioned. With his mouth full, he tries to defend himself, bits of pizza falling back onto his plate. "I'M TRYING TO HELP HIM!" His words come out garbled and loud, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
"You're trying to humiliate him," Hyunjin mutters, shaking his head as he watches Jisung struggle to catch his breath. Handing him a glass of water, Hyunjin pats him on the back. "Eat properly, damn it. You're always talking with your mouth full," he scolds, though there's a playful smirk on his face. "But seriously, as if being cheated on wasn't bad enough, does he really need to find out through Wi-Fi?" Hyunjin adds, settling onto the couch beside Jisung. His hand rests on the armrest as he leans back, his long legs crossed casually.
"My sister came over the other day," Hyunjin continues, "and asked for the Wi-Fi password. She already knows the gossip just from that."
"It's not my fault if he never checks his Wi-Fi settings," Jisung replies, his face still flushed from coughing. His laughter dies down as he takes another sip of wine, trying to compose himself.
"Maybe, just maybe, his phone connects automatically when he gets home? That's probably why he's never seen it," Felix suggests as he carries a tray of brownies into the living room. The sweet, chocolatey smell fills the air as he sets the tray down near the pizza boxes.
"Damn, that makes sense, Lix," Han says, quickly snatching one of the brownies. He takes a big bite and talks with his mouth full, crumbs falling onto his shirt. "But I still feel the need to tell the neighbor. The betrayed one, obviously."
Seungmin leans back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he takes another sip of wine. "I feel bad for him too, but I don't tell him because, when I was cheated on, no one told me. And a lot of people knew." His voice is tinged with bitterness, though he hides it behind another gulp of wine.
