Days blurred into weeks for Annika and Shivay. Annika threw herself into wedding preparations, a whirlwind of decorations, guest lists, and vendor meetings. Shivay, on the other hand, sought refuge in work, burying himself in endless paperwork and meetings, anything to distract himself from the impending ceremony.
The wedding date loomed closer, a mere two weeks away. Then, a ray of sunshine broke through the tension. Ishita's medical school entrance exam results arrived. Her dedication and hard work had paid off – she'd aced the exam in her first attempt, securing a coveted seat at the top medical college in New Delhi.
Overjoyed, Annika knew what she had to do. She would accompany Ishita to Delhi, helping her settle in and navigate the admission process. The trip would take four days, filled with errands and logistics. With the peak season upon them, train and economy flight tickets were scarce. Akash, ever the helpful friend, stepped in. He booked them business class tickets and offered the use of his guest house in Delhi.
Annika initially hesitated, reluctant to accept such a generous offer. However, Akash assured her he had a business meeting scheduled in the capital, making their presence all the more convenient.
And so, Annika, Rohan, and Akash found themselves at the airport, bidding farewell to Kavya who'd volunteered to drop them off. As Kavya waved them goodbye and headed back to the Oberoi mansion to oversee the wedding's final preparations, a whirlwind week of deliveries and arrangements awaited her. Thankfully, Kavya's organizational skills had sharpened considerably, and she was ready to tackle the logistical onslaught with confidence.
Kavya supervised the workers unloading deliveries in the backyard when Kanika approached.
"Kavya," Kanika said, "where's Annika? I need to talk to her."
"Annika di will be back in four days," Kavya replied. "She's away taking care of some personal business. But tell me what's going on, maybe I can help."
Kanika's surprise was evident. Kavya eyed Kanika with suspicion. "What are you doing here?As far as I know, Dadi specifically requested you avoid Shivay until after the ceremony."
Kanika stammered, "Well, you know I'm not one for tradition. I was actually hoping to take Annika with me to my place to help with some wedding preparations."
Kavya scoffed. "Why on earth would Annika di help with your preparations? She's the Oberoi wedding planner, not yours. Besides, I'm sure your own planner is already on top of things."
"It's just that… I prefer Annika's work," Kanika mumbled unconvincingly. In truth, Kanika was throwing a bachelorette party that night. Her intention was to use the pretense of needing Annika's help to lure her there, insult her, and finally exact revenge for the dance party humiliation she'd suffered four months ago.
Just then, Kavya's shout echoed through the yard, "Dadi, you're here!"
At the sound of Dadi's name, Kanika, fearing a confrontation, bolted from the scene without a backward glance.
Kanika's bachelorette party raged around her, a vibrant celebration she felt utterly detached from. Her meticulously crafted plan to humiliate Annika had crumbled with Annika's absence. Natasha, noticing Kanika nursing a drink alone in a shadowy corner, sauntered over."Why the long face, birthday girl?" Natasha teased. "Finally snagging that rich man. Spill the beans, how wealthy is he that his name remains a secret?"
Shivay had explicitly forbidden Kanika from revealing her soon-to-be Oberoi status. The grand reveal was supposed to happen at the reception.
"Just leave me alone, Natasha," Kanika snapped, her mood souring further. "My revenge on Annika isn't complete, and until it is, there'll be no happiness for me."
