It was all very sudden.
One moment they were at home, or at work, or in their car. The next, they weren't.
"Hello, new contestants," Airy's a bit tired, but that's fine. "I am your host, Airy, and..."
He saw all of them were confused, panicking, or yelling at him. He forgot he'd have to do this over again. At least they paid attention to him at all, unlike the current season 2.
"Um.. You six are in my competition. Called ONE." The word 'one' appears in the sky, and they hear a click. The sound of his new, updated season 3 fanfare broadcasts to this planet. He hopes they'll like it, but realistically he knows they aren't listening. That's fine, he can still get to play it again when he teleports the next contestants in episode 2. They would like it more.
This time he ignores most of the contestants' questions, except for a few questions he thinks could be important. "You're... competing for a prize... One wish, for anything you ever wanted." What did he say last time? "Riches, immortality, whatever your heart desires."
Some of them sounded scared. Very scared, actually. Especially Mustard. Airy figures he should do something about it. "Oh, you guys are on the Plane. Sorry about the darkness, I didn't add a sun yet.. I'll do it next episode... hope that's okay.."
He waits a while, watching them talk to each other for a bit.
"Okay, enough.. Enough chit chat. I need to give you guys your new names," he tries to add a sort of excited emphasis to 'new names', but it doesn't work. "I don't have any name tags or anything yet, so I'm just gonna announce them to you." He looks back at the computer. The code seems good. He runs it, and a hand-drawn arrow appears above the red tomato. "Tomatoey," the arrow moves above the wrapped candy bar, "Candy Bar", then to the watermelon, "Melony,", and so on. "Stocking, Mustard, and Nail." Then the arrow disappears.
"Um, give me a second." The contestants hear some shuffling through the mic that's still on as Airy starts leaving, only to change his mind. He mutters something the contestants can't hear, then walks back to the mic. "I.. need to prepare the challenge." His contestants' reactions go unnoticed as he turns the mic off and leaves.
He doesn't want to go through the trouble of finding and sharpening wooden sticks to serve as poles, and the ones on the previous Plane aren't there anymore. He remembered the first season, the very first "challenge" was to throw your rock the farthest – that could work! This time, he knew how to resize things, so it should be pretty simple. Nothing to mess up.
After collecting a couple of rocks by the waterfall, Airy returned to the cave.
"Okay guys, your first challenge is to throw your rock as far as you can." He took a thin stick and drew a line on the ground for the contestants. "Stand behind the line, please." They did so, and Airy seemed satisfied. At least these guys were doing the challenges.
He teleported a single rock next to where each contestant stood. "Okay, here are your rocks." This was much easier than dropping them down like with the previous seasons, and much harder to screw up.
"Three, two, one, go."
For the first few seconds, nobody did anything. Airy thought maybe this was just gonna turn out like how season 2 ended up, did he have to motivate them more? Until Candy Bar hesitantly grabbed the rock next to him, took a step back to wind up, and threw it as far as he could. It went a decent amount actually, like skipping rocks on a lake. Except there is no lake, so the rock simply skidded for a moment before coming to a stop.
Once Candy Bar started, that seemed to get the rest of them to do the challenge too (much to Airy's relief). Melony followed, his rock didn't go as far. Next was Tomatoey.
The other three, Nail, Mustard, and Stocking, looked hesitant.
"If you guys don't do the challenge, I... guess I'll just put the ones who didn't participate up for elimination."
Stocking did the challenge after. Then Nail, and it took some encouraging from him and later Tomatoey to get Mustard to budge.
"Oh, okay, everyone did the challenge. Thanks, I guess.
Anyway, uh... Candy Bar threw his rock the farthest, and... it looks like Mustard's and Tomatoey's rocks were thrown the least far. So those two are, up for elimination."
Tomatoey asks what 'up for elimination' means.
"Uh.. because this is a gameshow. The people up for elimination get," he hesitates, "voted on by viewers.. to pick whoever gets eliminated and who gets to stay. And then another challenge is played, then they vote again, until there's only one left. And they win."
Some chatter is heard. Not much else happens. Airy decides it's a good time to end the episode here, and types it down in a new page, satisfied with himself.
