Chapter 37: Running Through The Jungle

Nomad (GR)'s POV:

I'm in the elevator heading to the headmaster's office after receiving a message from Colonel Mitchell. Once the elevator doors open I saw Professor Ozpin, Harry and Colonel Mitchell are waiting for me.

Nomad (GR): What is the situation? has Northman and the others linked up with Zero?

Col. Mitchell: That is negative. the situation is more complicated now for them.

Nomad (GR): More complicated how?

Col. Mitchell: Northman notified me that they already have a KIA.

When I heard this I was stunned.

Nomad (GR): What? who is the KIA?

Harry: August Allsand is the KIA.

Nomad (GR): Why am I not surprised he was going to blow the mission somehow.

Col. Mitchell: I agree but General Ironwood is trying to hold Northman responsible for August.

Nomad (GR): You can't be serious the stupid idiot stepped on a fucking land mine for god sake.

Harry: General Ironwood doesn't see it that way due to August's father being a member of the Atlas council.

Ozpin: In other words General Ironwood is trying to save face with the Atlas council.

Nomad (GR): So what are we going to do?

Ozpin: We are going to stop anything bad happening to Mr Rose. He couldn't help that a land mine was in the area.

Harry: But the General is still going to be mad.

Nomad (GR): I agree. I just hope others make it back.

Col. Mitchell: We all do Nomad (GR).

3rd POV:

After the team ran southeast into the jungle to escape from whoever ambushed us at the LZ. I gave the hand signal to stop.

Y/n: Alright, let's stop here to check our breath. we should be far away from them for now.

Glynda: How could they be on us that fast?

Blackbeard: There must have been a patrol nearby when they heard the land mine went off.

Winter: Did anyone get a good look at who was shooting at us?

Finka: No, all I saw was the muzzle flashes but whoever it is have experience fighting in the jungle.

Holt: They also probably know the terrain a lot better than us.

Y/n: Yep So we have to take it slow and easy. But first we need to make it hard for us to be seen.

Winter: How are we going to do that?

Winter saw Y/n, Holt and Blackbeard grabbing a handful of mud. As Finka is taken off her gas mask and doing the same.

Glynda: What is the mud for?

Y/n: It is to make us blend in and to make it harder for us to be seen in light. He said as he is smearing the mud over his face.

Winter and Professor Goodwitch watched as the operators smeared mud over their exposed skin and gear. After they were done Y/n turned to Winter and Professor Goodwicth.

Y/n: Okay now it's your turn you two.

So they smeared mud over themselves. after a few minutes Winter and Professor Goodwitch all over them as well.

Glynda: don't you carry some type of camouflage paint on you?

Y/n: We do but we are going to be sweating a lot and sweat is just going to make it wear off. Plus the mud will keep us cool for a while. All right let's link up with Zero.
