(Disclamer before you read: While this fanfiction takes place around the Russian revolution and includes real historical events from it, this story should not be taken as accurate and while I am trying to make important details correct and to have certain events it will not be 100% accurate and I don't want anyone to take this as a genuine attempt to portray history. This is a countryhumans fanfiction of all things, enjoy reading!)

The warm feeling of summer was in the air again, a relief as well a comfort. The past winter had shown no mercy to anyone. It had been so harsh but so worth it to see the flowers bloom once more and to hear birds sing again. Why can't it be this peaceful all the time?

It was now 3 years since Russia had joined the war. It had been nothing but depressing to see the number of men killed and crippled.
The soldiers on the front must be even more thankful for this warmth than you.

These thoughts spiraled around in your head as you stood there in a large open field that extended thousands of meters.

You had made the reckless decision to run away from home, but it wasn't without reason. You needed to. If you didn't you feared the worst could happen.
You regained focus on your objective.

You must start a new life.

A tree line began to form in the distance. You ran towards it as soon as you saw it. It's just as you had thought, the forest you had seen on the map. Just beyond it there should be a village.
You kept running even though your feet felt sore and painful. Running all this way in a dress and heels was tough. If only you had a choice about such.

The trees grew closer in distance and you quickly realized they were much bigger than expected. They loomed over you intimidatingly. They blocked out the sun and it suddenly felt like night had already started long ago.
If it wasn't for the fact you had to do this, you'd never dare set foot in that place. You ignored the voice in your head screaming at you to turn back.
You took your first steps into the forest.

You walked carefully as to not trip over the seemingly impossibly large roots of the trees. The biggest threat wouldn't be the wildlife, it would be if you could navigate your way out of this place.

One could wonder why you were in such a hurry, why were you in danger? What was there to run from? Your luxurious dress already gave away the fact you're privileged.

Though unbeknownst to your knowledge you were not alone in this vast forest.

Wandering around lost was a soldier who chose to desert. A soldier who did not agree with how the Tsar was handling the war and people. After the failure of the Lake Narcoz offensive he had lost all hope.
Russian troops were slaughtered with no positive effect on the war. Something must change. He knew if he was found deserting, he would be killed but his country needed a change in leadership.
He knew if he was found attempting to start a revolution, he would receive an execution like no other but Soviet Union had hope.

He had hope to stop the bloodshed of this war and the leadership that wasn't benefiting his nation in any way.

He had been walking for ages. It felt as if at any point he would collapse onto the ground and be unable to get up. It didn't help he was still carrying most of his equipment. His trusty Mosin-Nagant was slinged over his shoulder, his cap still sitting firmly on his head.
He was incredibly tall with a muscular frame from his time at the front and the labor that came with it. His tan summer uniform hugged his body perfectly, a belt holding it together where he kept his canteen and ammo pouches attached. He was wearing Sapogi boots, issued by the military. Surprisingly comfortable while still being suited for walking in all sorts of rough conditions.
