According to the reports, the upcoming thunderstorm was set to be one of the worst the town had seen in recent years. But there was always one thing Avery could count on, even after an event like that: there was always calm after the storm. Even if fixing the Inn's porch was going to be a lot of work.

Dark clouds gathered on the horizon, casting a shadow over Haven Bay. Avery pulled her cardigan tight around her shoulders, shivering as a cold gust of wind swept across the empty beach.

It was late afternoon, the beach was quiet, tourist or locals nowhere to be seen. All the common sounds, replaced by the roar of thunder in the distance. Avery glanced up at the darkening sky, a frown creasing her brow. She had a bad feeling about this storm, a sense of foreboding that sent a shiver down her spine.

As if on cue, a flash of lightning split the sky, illuminating the horizon in a blinding white light. Avery flinched, her heart pounding in her chest as she braced herself against the railing. Thunder rumbled in the distance, growing louder with each passing moment.

Just then, something caught Avery's eye-a dark shape bobbing in the churning waves. She squinted, trying to make out what it was, her pulse quickening with each passing second. And then, suddenly, the clouds parted, revealing the figure of a man, struggling against the raging sea.

Without hesitation, Avery descended the stairs, the sand and the wind making it difficult for her to reach her surfboard, and hearing the screaming man that shouted: "Help!", his voice barely audible above the crashing waves. "Somebody, please help me!"

The wind and force of the water were giving her a fight but she was relentless, she kept going, and she was finally able to grasp his trembling hand.

With a final burst of strength, Avery pulled the man to safety, dragging him onto the shore as the storm raged on around them. They collapsed onto the wet sand, gasping for breath as the rain poured down.

"Thank you," the man said, his voice hoarse with gratitude.

Avery nodded, too winded to speak as she watched the storm rage on. But even as the thunder rolled and the lightning flashed, she couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of their adventure.
