Chapter 1
It was a day like any other for Tara. After she finished eating her breakfast and dressing up, she left her home to go to an ancient artists exhibition that would be held in her city's museum. She took her car, and once she parked she got out to reach the museum's front door. She entered and she was met with a wide saloon with all kinds of art, from sculptures to paintings. Everything was magnificent, however her gaze got locked in a colorful painting: it represented a girl, seen from her back, looking at the horizon from her balcony. For some reason Tara felt a sense of nostalgia, as if she knew that girl in the painting. She felt enchanted by that image portrayed, she didn't even realise that she was slowly losing herself in that colourful image. She fell in a trance, and suddenly, she started daydreaming. She envisioned a girl with violet hair and blue eyes, she looked exactly like Tara, she was wearing a colourful dress and she was smiling. She looked like a princess. Next to her there was another girl with blond long straight hair and blue eyes like the colour of the sky,she had a maid dress. The two seemed really close, as if they were lovers. They lived in a palace, and they spent a lot of time together, the maid would even paint a portrait for the girl from time to time. Suddenly the scene got darker: one day a group of angry civilians surrounded the palace. Some men were able to enter the building, and they reached the girl's chamber, they were armed with knives. The girl was in her room with her maid when they broke in. They wanted to kill her so they ran towards her, but their plan ended up in failure as the maid protected her mistress and she got killed instead. The princess was in despair seeing her maid on the ground, her body slowly losing warmth as her blood was pooling under her. The men were not stopped by the maid's courageous action, and instead they got angry and wanted to take that anger out on the maid's body. The princess didn't permit that, she put herself between the maid's body and the men, using herself as a shield. She got stabbed multiple times, falling on the ground, and only when the men were satisfied they left and ran away from the palace. The violet haired girl crawled to the maid's body, she laid down next to her, grabbing the maid's hand. She smiled slightly looking at the blonde girl, before her expression faded and her eyes closed.
Chapter 2
Tara gradually came back to reality. Reminiscing what she just saw, without even noticing, tears were falling down from her eyes and wetting her cheeks. She couldn't understand why she felt a sense of sadness and familiarity. What was that she just envisioned? And why did she feel like she experienced all those events in first person? Could it be possible that... Was one of her past lives? Before she could even find an answer, her thoughts got interrupted.
"Are you okay?" It's what she heard. In front of her there was a hand offering a tissue. She looked up and saw a girl looking at her with a worried look on her face: she had blond long straight hair and blue eyes.
"Like that maid" Said Tara, talking to herself.
"What?" Asked the blonde girl.
"Oh, nothing" Tara realised she said her thoughts out loud; she quickly took the tissue and she dried her tears, then she thanked the girl who offered it to her.
"You know, it's the first time I see someone crying for a painting. You're definitely an interesting person." She chuckled. Tara looked at her not knowing how to react, she kept looking at the blonde girl and thinking back at what she experienced when she looked at the painting from before. This girl that was talking to her looked totally like that maid she saw. Was it really all a coincidence? She started to question what was real and what was not at this point.
"Let's get to know each other. Nice to meet you, my name is Leah." She said, interrupting Tara's thoughts once again, as she offered her hand. The violet haired girl looked at her in surprise. After all maybe this was an opportunity? She could've discovered if this was really all a coincidence or... fate. Tara, after a moment of hesitation, replaced her surprised expression with a wide smile and then she grabbed Leah's hand shaking it.
"Nice to meet you too. You can call me Tara." Both of the girls were smiling at each other. Tara didn't know what to expect from this new acquaintance, but she was curious to discover where this would lead her. Was what she saw all just a hallucination? Or maybe it was really her past life? But after all she knew something for sure: everything happens for a reason.
