Prologue: An Unfamiliar World

The end of a journey signals the beginning of a new adventure.

A foreign world.

Bizarre landscapes,

Unheard of cultures,

Exotic animals,

And new people.

"So how come your here?" I look over to the familiar individual next to me, "Lumine."

Catching her breath after running here, she replies.

"I felt a familiar presence. You were the last person I'd think to see here though. Don't you have a country to run back at Tempest?" She asks smiling at seeing a familiar person.

"A country!?"

I look over to see where the shout came from to see a small floating child.

"New companion?" I point at it.

"Yeah, I fished her up." She says following the direction I point

"Don't ignore Paimon!" The 'Paimon' says stomping on air.

"That's some feisty fish you got there. Based on the name, I'd think she was a Pokémon."

"Paimon's not a fish or a Pokémon! Paimon's Paimon!"

"Well Paimon, I'm Rimuru. Rimuru Tempest." I introduce myself before turning to Lumine, "And where's Aether? Aren't you two always together?" I look around searching for another blonde traveller.

Looking down with sad eyes, she replies. "I don't know."

She explains her encounter with the being that called it self, 'The Sustainer of the Heavenly Principles' and attempt at trying to leave this world. As well as how the god took Aether and cast a seal on her, causing her to lose her powers.

"How many years ago was it? I don't know. But I intend to find out. After I awoke, I was all alone up until I met Paimon two months ago."

"Yeah, Paimon really owes you for that. Otherwise Paimon likely would have drowned... But you!" she points at me, "How do you know the traveller? Paimon thought she said she wasn't from this world. And why are you wearing a suspicious looking mask?"

"She visited my world a while back. That's where I met her. And as for the mask..." I place my hand on the mask on my face. "It's a memento from a friend."

"Oh..." Paimon quitely says, noticing the air turn a bit sad before continuing, "You're not from this world either?" Paimon tilts her head.

"Nup. I have no idea where I am."

Laughing at my nonchalant attitude, Lumine adds on "Well you kinda just spawned out of no where."

"You're in the world of Teyvat! Specifically the nation of wind and freedom, Mondstadt! Paimon owes Lumine so Paimon will do her best to be a great guide!"

"Thanks Paimon." Lumine smiles, "We we're planning on heading to the city of Mondstadt to hopefully locate Aether's whereabouts."

I think for a bit before smiling beneath my mask. "Well then, what are you waiting for? Let's go."

"You're coming with us?" Lumine asks, eyes filled with hope.

"Well I can't really leave you alone can I? Nor do I have a plan in this world so let's find Aether together in our new adventuring group. Paimon lead the way!"
