Serizawa sighed, rolling his head back for a moment. "Daichi, there's nothing we can do for repair right now. Our resources are run thin, and with Ejirou around.." Daichi groaned, sitting up and heading back into the kitchen for his cereal bowl and to avoid the response. Serizawa slacked his shoulders, raising his voice only slightly so he could be heard from the other room. Any higher would be too rude for Serizawa. "Son, I understand it's your family work. But as of now? We're in no position." Daichi clenched the bowl in his hand, grabbing his spoon and eating it with a pout. It felt unfair, and almost cruel to have to wait this long to continue the work of his Grandfather, and Father. He hung his head as he continued eating, listening quietly as something began beeping from within the dining room. He recognized the sound. It was Monarch's communications device. But it just- Kept beeping. He waddled his way into dining room, finding Serizawa had left to another room. He picked the device up, pressing a button on the side. He put it up to his ear, "Hello?"
It was quiet. Just static.. But audio began cutting in. "Serizawa-" Daichi held it closer. The person's voice sounded frantic. "Hello?!-" It cut back in, "The unit- Collapsed in-" Serizawa came back into the room, confused. Daichi quickly handed it back to him. "Something about a collapse!" Serizawa put it up to his ear, trying to listen. He couldn't hear what was being said now, but it had Serizawa frantic. He nodded, "Okay, okay! I'll be there!" Daichi leaned in, "What's going on?!" He could hear the audio cut out. Serizawa stuffed it into his pocket, "I need to go now, Daichi. I'm so sorry, son-" Daichi watched as he rushed out, holding his hand out. "Wait, let me come with!" Serizawa paused, stuck between what to say. "I can't- Just.. Come on, damn it!" He nodded and quickly followed out. On their way down the apartment steps, Daichi turned to Serizawa. "What's going on?" Serizawa stammered for a moment. "The storage facility, here in Yokohama.. It collapsed in on itself." He was taken aback by this. A storage unit collapsing in on itself?.. Like, into the ground? A hole? After a frantic, quick drive through the city and into the forest, they could see smoke rising from over the tree line. They reached an abrupt stop pulling in. There was no parking lot. Not anymore at least. The site was crowded with firetrucks, police, and Monarch cruisers. The entire site had collapsed into one long fault in the ground. Dragging in vehicles and trees alongside with it. Serizawa hung his mouth open in awe. He quickly pushed passed the officers surrounded the scene, ducking through the tape as he came through. He found a Monarch employee huddled in a blanket. His face was covered in dust, and the bruises and wounds across him were evident. He sat in the back of an open ambulance. Serizawa kneeled, "Sir, what happened here?!- Where are the rest?" The man seemed to still be in shock as his entire body stuttered as he tried to crane his head up. He had no words when he first opened his mouth.
"..No others. Just I was saved. They're all under there still.. Serizawa took a deep breath, placing his hand on the man's shoulder. "What happened?" The man's jaw clamped shut before he spoke again, "We were doing our routine inventory when we thought an Earthquake hit.. It all just suddenly caved in on itself. It sounded like something was burrowing beneath us seconds before the ground went in." He stood silent for a moment. "We had weapons in there, sir.. A lot of resources for Monarch are under there. And so are my co-workers.." Serizawa turned his head across the crowd to give Daichi a look. One he knew wasn't a good one. Daichi cleared his throat. Anxiously moving his way through the crowd where he slied under the tape. He met Serizawa just before where the fault began. They were taking a close look into the debris.
"How do we know it wasn't just an Earthquake?" Serizawa shook his head. "Would of been reported, would it not? They said they heard burrowing right before it caved in." Daichi kneeled, staring closer into the rubble. "You think a Blackborn..?-" Serizawa nodded, "No doubt. But what? It can't be one of the ones we have on document, none that we know of could burrow." Daichi tilted his head, "Biollante could." Serizawa's eyes narrowed, "There's no way. She's been reduced to an overgrowth covering Tokyo!" Daichi leaned in, "Unless.." He pointed to something covered by the rubble and layer of dust. But as the sun shined on it, it was obvious. A thick green root.
