The first rays of sunlight seeped through my curtains, waking me up gently. The events of the previous day played in my mind like a movie. Thought of Moving back into my parents' house brought a mix of emotions, but today was a new day. I had classes to attend, and a part of me was excited about the familiar routine.
After getting ready, I went downstairs to find Aunt Maria bustling in the kitchen. The smell of fresh pastries and brewed coffee filled the air.
"Good morning, Aunt Maria," I greeted her, giving her a quick hug.
"Good morning, dear. You're up early," she replied with a warm smile. "Are you all set for today?"
"Yes, I am. I'll head to college now. Have a great day at the bakery!" I said, grabbing an apple from the counter.
As I walked to the bus stop, I felt the crisp morning air and the sounds of the city waking up. It was comforting in a way.
Arriving at college, I quickly found Sofia in the courtyard. Her face lit up when she saw me, and she waved enthusiastically.
"Hey, Elena! How are you? Tell me when are you moving out from aunt Maria's house now ?"she asked, linking her arm with mine as we walked towards our first class.
"Emm , i guess it will take 2 days for me to move out completely and besides the house looks great, though. They did a wonderful job with the renovations, especially the balcony. You know, the one we both loved," I replied, smiling at the memory.
"That's awesome! And hey, remember, you can always count on me if you need anything," Sofia said, giving me a reassuring squeeze.
Classes went by in a blur. I tried to focus on the lectures, but my mind kept wandering. During a break, I found myself thinking about the man I saw that night. Who was he? Why was he watching my balcony? The memory of his silhouette under the moonlight sent shivers down my spine.
After classes, Sofia and I decided to grab a coffee at our favorite café. We chatted about everything and nothing, just like old times. It felt good to be with her, to have someone who understood me so well.
As the day ended and I made my way back home, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched. The streets seemed quieter, and the shadows felt darker. I reached my house and quickly went inside, locking the door behind me.
Aunt Maria was still at the bakery, so I had the house to myself. I decided to take a hot shower to relax. The warm water helped, but my mind was still restless. Wrapped in a towel, I walked into my room and saw the bouquet again. The flowers were vibrant and fresh, their scent filling the room.
I sat on my bed, holding the note in my hands. It read:
"For the light in my darkness."The words were simple, but they carried a weight I couldn't understand. Who was this person, and why were they sending me these gifts?
As I pondered over the note, my phone buzzed with a message from Sofia. "Hey, I left my jacket in your car. Can I come by and pick it up?"
"Sure, come over anytime," I replied.
A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I hurried downstairs to open it, expecting Sofia. But when I opened the door, there was no one there. Just a small box with my name on it.
I picked up the box and took it inside. Sitting on the living room couch, I carefully opened it. Inside was a delicate silver necklace with a small, intricate pendant. It was beautiful, and there was another note:
